Worshipped By Chaos: A Wild Ride Through Metal's Darkest Corners Thundra’s Worshipped By Chaos is one of those albums that sneaks up on you like a shadow in the night. Released back in 2006, this Greek-Russian hybrid doesn’t just stick to one genre—it’s got its fingers in everything from Black Metal to Viking Metal, with a splash of Symphonic Black Metal for good measure. And honestly? It kinda works. Let’s talk about two tracks that stuck with me after spinning this beast. First off, there’s “Hatred Declared.” This song hits hard right outta the gate—those riffs are relentless, and Thor Erik Helgesen’s vocals feel like they’re coming straight from some ancient battlefield. The mix of raw aggression and eerie synth work (courtesy of Nils Harald R. Johansen) creates this weirdly hypnotic vibe. You can almost picture yourself standing under stormy skies, sword raised, ready to charge into battle—or maybe just headbang furiously in your living room. Either way, it’s memorable as hell. Then there’s “Symphony Of Anguish,” which feels more cinematic than chaotic. It’s not just heavy; it’s layered. Like, imagine if a movie score had a baby with black metal—that’s what we’re dealing with here. The orchestral elements give it this grandiose edge, making it sound less like a typical metal track and more like an epic tale told through sound. Honestly, every time I hear it, I get lost in the drama of it all. It’s the kind of song that makes you wanna stare dramatically out a window while pondering life’s mysteries. What really ties this album together is how polished yet raw it sounds. Stein Sund clearly put his heart into producing, engineering, and even playing bass on this thing. Hats off to Elisabeth Ferking too—her cover art and photography add a visual punch that matches the music perfectly. Here’s the kicker though: Worshipped By Chaos isn’t perfect. Some songs blend together a bit too much, and yeah, the production could’ve been cranked up another notch. But none of that takes away from the sheer ambition of it. Thundra didn’t play it safe—they went big, bold, and borderline bonkers. So, would I recommend this album? Absolutely—but only if you’re ready for something that refuses to be boxed in. Listening to Worshipped By Chaos feels like stepping into another world, one where chaos reigns supreme but beauty still finds a way to peek through. Oh, and fun fact: Greece + Russia = unexpected musical magic. Who knew?

About Thundra

was formed as a project between (ex- ), (ex-) and Nils (synth) in 1998. When Harald and Stein left their former bands, recruited (on guitar), (on vocals) and (guitar and vocals) to complete the band. released the well-reviewed album on Spinefarm records in 2000. In 2006 they released their 2nd album . After releasing the band did some touring, festivals and concerts, plus a contribution for a compilation album issued by Karmøygeddon Metal Festival before they started working on new material. At the end of the summer of 2008 decided to leave to be able to focus on his family, and to put his main musical focus on his brainchild . In 2009 the band released their 3rd album . Since the band wanted two guitars in the band, got hired in to do some session guitars for the upcoming tour. Interesting fact about Album

Here’s an interesting fact: The album *Worshipped By Chaos* by Thundra is a wild mix of metal styles, blending Black Metal, Viking Metal, and even Symphonic Black Metal. What makes it unique is how it was crafted across two countries—Greece and Russia—and brought to life by a tight-knit team. Stein Sund played bass, engineered the recording, edited the tracks, and even produced the album. Talk about wearing multiple hats! The cover art and design were handled by Elisabeth Ferking, adding a personal touch to its dark, chaotic vibe. And fun twist—two tracks, "Worshipped By Chaos" and "Symphony of Anguish," are listed twice in the tracklist. Maybe it’s a nod to the duality of chaos itself?

The band's 2006 album, Worshipped by Chaos, is a clone of their debut.
