The More And Moreness by Haiku Salut: A Little Slice of Sonic Magic Let’s get one thing straight—Haiku Salut doesn’t do ordinary. Their 2018 album The More And Moreness is like stumbling into a dream where folk, electronic beats, and something kinda otherworldly all hang out together. It’s not perfect, but it’s alive in this messy, beautiful way that sticks with you long after the last note fades. Take the title track, “The More And Moreness.” It starts off so gentle, almost shy, like someone tiptoeing through an empty forest at dawn. Then BAM!—the synths kick in, layered over these plucked strings that feel like sunlight breaking through clouds. You don’t expect it to hit as hard as it does, but suddenly you’re sitting there thinking about your childhood or some random moment you haven’t thought about in years. That’s the magic of Haiku Salut—they make music that feels personal, even though they’ve never met you. And then there’s “Glockenwaltz” (yeah, I know, weird name). This one sneaks up on you. At first, it just sounds like tinkling bells and soft piano notes, easy enough to ignore if you're doing dishes or scrolling Twitter. But let it play for a minute, and it starts messing with your head in the best way possible. The rhythm shifts ever so slightly, like a heartbeat skipping, and before you realize it, you’re swaying along like a total dork. It’s playful yet haunting, kind of like remembering a party from years ago when everyone was happier—or maybe they just seemed that way. What makes this album stand out isn’t just its mix of genres; it’s how it feels. Neofolk? Sure. Electronic? Yep. But labels can’t capture the warmth here—the sense that three people from the UK poured their hearts into making something strange and lovely. Listening to it feels less like hearing songs and more like stepping into their world for 45 minutes. I guess what I’m trying to say is, The More And Moreness isn’t background noise. It demands attention, but not in an annoying way. More like…a friend who shows up uninvited but brings cookies and ends up staying for hours because they’re too fun to kick out. Oh, and here’s the kicker—I listened to this while waiting for my toast to pop once, and now I can’t eat breakfast without hitting play. Weird, right? Music shouldn’t have that much power over toast, but hey, here we are.
