Review by Aaron Feinberg

Album Review: Los Tres Caballeros – A Timeless Bolero Journey If you’re a fan of Latin music with soul, Los Tres Caballeros by Los Tres Caballeros (yep, they really named themselves twice) is one of those albums that feels like a warm hug from abuela. Released in 1987, this record takes listeners on a trip through Mexico, Spain, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, blending genres like Pop, Folk, World, Country, and—most importantly—the smooth, romantic vibes of Bolero. It’s the kind of album that makes you want to grab someone close and slow-dance under string lights. The lineup of tracks is massive—seriously, there are enough songs here to soundtrack an entire road trip across Latin America. But two tracks stood out for me personally: “Cucurrucucú Paloma” and “Bésame Mucho.” Let me tell ya why these stuck in my head. First off, “Cucurrucucú Paloma.” If you’ve ever heard this classic before, you know it hits different every time. The guitar work by Leonel Gálvez Polanco gives it this raw, emotional edge that just pulls at your heartstrings. And let’s not forget Benjamín Pérez de León’s requinto guitar—it adds layers to the melody that feel almost hypnotic. There’s something about the way Roberto Cantoral sings it too; his voice cracks just enough to make you believe he’s lived the pain in the lyrics. I remember humming this one while waiting for tacos late at night—it’s got that kind of universal vibe. Then there’s “Bésame Mucho,” which might as well be the anthem for hopeless romantics everywhere. This version brings all the drama without being over-the-top. You can picture yourself sitting in some dimly lit café in Madrid or Guadalajara, nursing a drink and thinking about someone who got away. The backing vocals add depth, making it feel less lonely somehow. Honestly, this track reminds me of trying to impress a crush back in high school—it didn’t work then, but man, did I try! What I love most about this album is how unapologetically sentimental it is. Songs like “Amor Eterno” and “Perfidia” have the same effect—they hit you right where it hurts but leave you feeling grateful for the experience. It’s music made for people who aren’t afraid to feel deeply. Plus, the production quality holds up surprisingly well for something released in ’87. Kudos to Carlos Castillo A. for keeping things fresh yet timeless. Now, here’s the random thought I’ll leave you with: Listening to this album made me realize how many songs talk about losing love and still wanting more. Like… why do we humans keep going back for seconds when we know it’s gonna hurt again? Maybe that’s what makes Boleros so special—they don’t sugarcoat life. They just remind us that even heartbreak has its own kind of beauty. So whether you’re into boleros, nostalgia, or just need background music for your next existential crisis, give Los Tres Caballeros a spin. It’s like a musical passport to emotions you didn’t even know you had.

Interesting fact about Album

Did you know? The album *Los Tres Caballeros* by Los Tres Caballeros, released in 1987, is like a musical journey through Latin America and beyond. It blends genres like Latin, Pop, Folk, and Bolero, with tracks that feel like love letters to different cultures. One interesting detail? Guitarist Leonel Gálvez Polanco not only played guitar but also provided backing vocals. And fun fact: the album features a whopping number of tracks, many of which have slight variations in their titles, like "Te me olvidas" and "Maldición de Quererte," almost as if they’re little echoes of the same heartfelt stories. With its rich mix of styles and heartfelt boleros, it’s no wonder this album found fans across Mexico, Spain, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.

Dejame decir como te quiero
dejame pensar en lo que piensas
Dejame decir muy despacito
que sin ti el amor no existiria.

Dejame soñar la vida entera
y que nunca muera esta realidad
Tan solo pretendo quererte más y más
con la fueza inmensa de mi corazón.
