Mighty Mighty And Roly Poly by Mal: A Forgotten Gem from 1971 Alright, let’s talk about this wild little slice of history—Mighty Mighty And Roly Poly, the quirky pop-rock album by Mal that somehow hopped across continents like a musical kangaroo in 1971. Released under various RCA labels (because why stick to one country when you can conquer eight?), this record is an oddball treasure chest filled with Europop vibes and enough charm to make your grandma boogie. The album kicks off with “Nowhere Left To Play,” and honestly? It’s stuck in my head like gum on a hot sidewalk. The track has this bittersweet vibe, like saying goodbye to summer but knowing winter might bring snowball fights. Mario & Giosy Capuano didn’t just write it—they crafted it, layering melodies so smooth they feel like sliding into fresh bedsheets after a long day. You can tell Giacomo Tosti, the producer, had his hands full making sure every note hit just right. There’s something about the way the guitars chime alongside those lush arrangements; it’s not trying too hard, but it doesn’t slack off either. It’s got heart, man. Real deal stuff. Then there’s the title track, “Mighty Mighty And Roly Poly.” If I’m being honest, who wouldn’t remember a song with a name like that? It’s playful, kinda goofy even, but don’t let that fool ya—it’s packed with hooks sharp enough to catch a marlin. This tune feels like a carnival ride for your ears, spinning through punchy rhythms and harmonies that bounce around like rubber balls. It’s impossible not to tap your foot or hum along, even if you’re just pretending to know the words at first. The brothers Capuano clearly had fun stitching this thing together, and their joy leaks out of every second of playback. What makes this album stand out isn’t just its catchy tunes—it’s how unapologetically global it feels. From New Zealand to Turkey, Madagascar to Brazil, it traveled farther than most bands today could dream of. Imagine hearing these tracks blasting from a jukebox in a German pub or a South African beach party back in the '70s. Wild, right? But here’s the kicker: despite all its charm, Mighty Mighty And Roly Poly kinda slipped through the cracks of time. Maybe it was overshadowed by bigger names or maybe people were too busy disco-ing to notice. Either way, it deserves another listen—not as some dusty relic, but as proof that good music doesn’t need fireworks to shine. So yeah, give it a spin. Let “Nowhere Left To Play” tug at your nostalgia strings while “Mighty Mighty And Roly Poly” turns your living room into a mini festival. Just don’t blame me if you start dancing awkwardly in front of your mirror. Oh, and hey—if anyone asks where you heard about it, just say… Madagascar told you.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: the album *Mighty Mighty And Roly Poly* by Mal is like a musical time capsule from 1971. It blends Pop Rock and Europop, genres that were just finding their groove back then. What’s wild is how it traveled the globe—released in places as diverse as New Zealand, Turkey, Madagascar, and Brazil. You’d think a song called *Nowhere Left To Play* would feel downbeat, but instead, it carries this quirky energy. The Capuano brothers, Mario and Giosy, not only wrote the tracks but also arranged them, giving the whole thing a personal touch. Oh, and fun detail: the album was pressed under RCA Victor in multiple countries, showing just how much faith they had in its universal appeal. Not bad for an under-the-radar record!

I,ve been looking for this song for at least 25 years. I didn’t know the name of the artist nor the name of the song. I heard it when I was a child, someone recorded this single on tape in those days.
I knew the melody and much of the lyrics. I googled those words in many combinations: never a result. A couple of later I tried again, no results either. How could I know this song and even the lyrics, when there’s nothing on the internet? This year I tried again and found your you tube recording! Many many thanks, nostalgic feelings. Turns out it was the B-side of a single! It’s much better then mighty mighty roly poly!
