Everybody Knows by Dave Clark 5: A Timeless Slice of Pop Rock Magic Alright, let’s talk about Everybody Knows, the 1967 album from Dave Clark 5. It’s one of those records that sneaks up on you—kinda like finding an old photograph in your pocket and realizing it means way more than you thought. Released under Epic Records, this slice of pop rock goodness hits all the right notes without trying too hard. And yeah, maybe it’s not perfect, but isn’t that what makes it so damn charming? First off, let me say—the title track “Everybody Knows” is just… chef’s kiss. Produced by Dave Clark himself (props to him for wearing multiple hats), this song has this raw energy to it. Like, you can almost picture dudes in leather jackets cruising down some dusty highway with their windows rolled down. The guitar riff? Catchy as hell. The vocals? Straight-up earnest. You don’t hear music like this anymore—where every note feels like it came straight from someone’s soul. There’s no overthinking here; it’s just pure, unfiltered rock ‘n’ roll vibes. Then there’s “Inside And Out,” which honestly caught me off guard the first time I heard it. Arranged by Les Reed, this one leans a bit softer compared to the punchy opener, but man, does it pack an emotional wallop. Something about the way the lyrics dig into feelings we’ve all had—that push-and-pull between hiding who you are and letting people see the real you—it sticks with you. By the second chorus, I wasn’t just listening anymore; I was feeling it. Kinda makes you wanna grab a pen and write something meaningful—or call up an old friend you haven’t talked to in ages. What gets me about this album is how simple yet effective it is. These guys weren’t chasing trends or trying to reinvent the wheel—they were just making music they believed in. And honestly? That sincerity shines through loud and clear. Sure, the production might sound a little dated now, but hey, that’s part of its charm. Listening to it today feels like stepping back into another era—one where life seemed simpler, even if it really wasn’t. I guess what I’m saying is, Everybody Knows reminds me why I fell in love with rock music in the first place. It’s got heart, grit, and enough hooks to keep you coming back for more. But here’s the kicker—it also made me realize how rare albums like this are nowadays. In a world full of autotune and endless remixes, hearing something this authentic feels kinda revolutionary. So yeah, go ahead and give it a spin. Who knows? Maybe it’ll remind you of something you didn’t know you’d forgotten.

Interesting fact about Album

Here's an interesting fact: The Dave Clark 5's album *Everybody Knows*, released in 1967, featured the track "Everybody Knows," which became a staple of their energetic Pop Rock style. What’s cool is that it was arranged by Les Reed, a legendary figure in British music. While Dave Clark served as the producer, bringing his vision to life, Reed’s touch added a unique flair to the sound. It’s wild to think this record came out over 50 years ago and still holds up!

One of my all time DC5 songs. Bought "Everybody Knows" single and absolutely fell in love with this B-side. Too bad they didn't have the presence in the U.S. anymore to promote some of the great songs they were recording at that time that would go unheard by most of the U.S. public.

Seems the boys were getting into psychedelia here but sadly broke up too soon after this.

One of those unforgettable songs of the sixties. I still like to hear it and now I am retired, I can hear it often. Brings to me pleasant reminders of my youth.
