Album Review: PF Commando – In A Pose Let’s get one thing straight: if punk rock had a baby in Sweden back in ’79, it would be this chaotic masterpiece called In A Pose. Released by the gloriously DIY “Not On Label” (twice, because why not?), PF Commando delivers an album that feels like someone just handed you a Molotov cocktail and said, "Here, light your day on fire." It's raw, unfiltered, and messy in all the right ways—like trying to eat spaghetti with chopsticks for the first time. The lineup is tight but wild: J. Ricknell doing double duty on vocals and guitar, Sonny holding down bass duties while also chiming in vocally, Ritchie smashing drums like he’s mad at them, and Keefan shredding guitar riffs that sound like they were born out of frustration. This ain’t no polished stadium rock; it’s more like garage punk meets basement chaos with a side of Swedish snarl. Now let’s dive into two tracks that’ll stick to your brain like gum under a table. First up, “Jag Vill...”. If you’ve ever felt like screaming into the void about things you want but can’t quite articulate, congrats—you now have your anthem. The opening riff hits harder than caffeine on a Monday morning, and J. Ricknell’s vocals are equal parts sneer and desperation. You don’t need to speak Swedish to feel the rage bubbling underneath—it’s universal. By the end, you'll find yourself yelling along even though you probably butchered every word. Who cares? Punk doesn’t judge. Then there’s “Kungen Knulla Mera!”, which roughly translates to something hilariously unhinged involving kings and… well, you get the idea. This track is pure irreverence wrapped in distorted guitars and pounding drums. It’s catchy as hell, despite—or maybe because—it sounds like it was recorded during a house party where everyone forgot what they were celebrating halfway through. The energy here is infectious, like catching secondhand adrenaline from someone who just ran ten miles barefoot. Other standouts include “Polis Polis,” which makes fun of cops before it was cool (or legal?), and “Banned From The Palais,” which might make you wonder how much trouble these guys actually got into back in the day. But honestly, half the charm of In A Pose lies in its refusal to take itself too seriously. Sure, some songs bleed together after a while, but isn’t that kinda the point? Punk isn’t about perfection; it’s about passion—and PF Commando has buckets of it. So, what’s the verdict? Listening to In A Pose feels like being invited to a secret club where the password changes every five minutes, and nobody tells you what it is. It’s messy, loud, and occasionally confusing—but damn if it isn’t fun. And hey, isn’t that what punk’s supposed to be? Final thought: If aliens ever invade Earth and ask us to explain human emotions, I’m handing them this album. Either they’ll understand our species better, or they’ll leave us alone forever. Either way, win-win.

About PF Commando

Punk band from Gävle, Sweden. Their recording debut came in 1978 with the single "Svenne Pop". At the same time they were featured on compilation LP "Nä Nu Gävlar". During their time they release three LPs, "Manipulated mongon" (1979), "Jag är en duva" (1981) and "In a pose" (recorded in 1979 and released in 1997). In 1982 the group split up but have on occasion reformed to play live.
