Prosanctus Inferi - Red Streams Of Flesh

Red Streams Of Flesh by Prosanctus Inferi: A Gnarly Sonic Assault That Sticks With You Alright, so let’s talk about Red Streams Of Flesh by Prosanctus Inferi. If you’re into Death Metal and Black Metal with just enough raw chaos to make your ears bleed (in a good way), this album is gonna slap for you. Released back in 2011 on Nuclear War Now! Productions—a label known for putting out some seriously unhinged metal—this thing hits hard like an iron fist wrapped in barbed wire. First off, the lineup here is tight as hell. Jake Kohn pulls triple duty on guitar, vocals, and bass, which honestly makes me wonder how he doesn’t explode mid-recording. Jeremy Spears handles drums with the kind of relentless battery that feels like getting pummeled by a sledgehammer-wielding demon. And props to Damian Herring for mixing AND mastering; dude made sure every riff cuts through like a serrated blade while keeping the overall sound murky and oppressive, just how it should be. Now, onto the tracks. There are two songs I can’t shake from my brain no matter how hard I try: “Fumigating Portentious Sacriligium” and “Red Streams of Flesh.” Let’s start with “Fumigating…” because holy crap, this one kicks down the door right away. The opening riff is all jagged edges and blackened fury—it grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. It’s got this crawling, almost suffocating vibe that reminds me of being buried alive under layers of rotting earth. Not exactly uplifting, but hey, that’s the point, right? Jake’s vocals are pure venom, spitting out these guttural growls that sound like they were recorded inside a crypt. You know when people say music sounds evil? Well, this IS evil. Then there’s the title track, “Red Streams of Flesh,” which slams even harder. This song has this nasty groove buried underneath all the blasting madness. Like, you could bang your head to it if you weren’t too busy clutching your soul trying to keep it intact. The drumming is absolutely savage here, especially during those double-bass sections where Jeremy just goes full berserker mode. The track builds up this insane tension before exploding into this chaotic whirlwind of riffs and shrieks. Honestly, it’s one of those moments where you forget you’re listening to music—it feels more like witnessing some kind of ritual sacrifice or something. One thing worth mentioning is how cohesive the whole album feels despite its brutality. Every track flows into the next like molten lava pouring over a battlefield. Even though the production is raw, it adds to the atmosphere instead of taking away from it. And yeah, maybe having duplicate tracks like “Hairs Of Incest” and “Bent In Genuflexion” listed twice seems kinda weird, but honestly, who cares? At this point, I’m just glad they didn’t name a song after their lunch order or something equally random. So, wrapping this up… Red Streams Of Flesh isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking for polished melodies or catchy choruses, keep walking. But if you want an album that feels like staring into the abyss while the abyss stares back—and possibly whispers terrible secrets—then this is your jam. Random thought: Listening to this record makes me glad I don’t live in medieval times because I’d probably get burned at the stake for owning it. Cheers to that.
