Review by Robert Padgett

Section One EP by Sascha Müller: A Techno Gem from 2009 Released in 2009 on the Argentinian label Technoid Records, Section One EP by Sascha Müller is a solid entry in the electronic music scene, particularly for fans of raw, driving techno. With its stripped-back beats and hypnotic grooves, this EP captures the essence of late-night warehouse vibes while leaving room for subtle experimentation. It’s not perfect—some moments feel repetitive—but it carves out its own space with authenticity. The standout track, "Void Section (Original Mix)," immediately grabs attention. Its pulsating bassline feels like an insistent heartbeat, pulling you deeper into its rhythm. The minimalistic approach works wonders here; there’s no unnecessary clutter, just layers of sound that build tension without ever fully resolving. You find yourself waiting for the drop, but it never quite comes—and somehow, that’s what makes it memorable. It keeps you hooked, almost daring you to stop listening. This track isn’t about big flashy moments; it's more like a slow burn that stays with you long after the music ends. Another highlight is the remix of "Void Section" by DJ Pablishhh!. If the original mix is introspective and moody, this version takes things up a notch with sharper kicks and glitchy textures. It injects energy into the otherwise subdued atmosphere, making it ideal for peak-time play. What sticks out here is how the remix respects the source material while adding its own twist—a delicate balance many remixers fail to strike. Listening to both versions back-to-back feels like experiencing two sides of the same coin. The other tracks, “Traffic” and “Come On,” round out the EP nicely but don’t leave as strong an impression. They’re functional and well-crafted, sure, but lack the edge that makes the title track shine. Still, they serve their purpose as solid club tools, especially when played in a set where context matters more than individual brilliance. Reflecting on Section One EP, it’s clear why Sascha Müller chose Technoid Records as his platform. Argentina has always had a unique take on techno, blending European precision with South American grit. This release fits right into that tradition. But here’s the thing: even though it came out over a decade ago, parts of it still sound fresh today. Maybe that’s because trends in techno tend to loop back around—or maybe it’s proof that good music doesn’t age. Unexpectedly enough, I found myself humming bits of “Void Section” while washing dishes yesterday. Not exactly the setting I imagined for such a dark, brooding track, but hey, isn’t that what great techno does? It sneaks into your brain and refuses to leave. And honestly, if an album can make dishwashing feel remotely exciting, it deserves some credit.
