Shahram Nazeri Et L'Ensemble Dastan – A Folk Odyssey That Stays With You Let’s cut to the chase: Shahram Nazeri Et L’Ensemble Dastan’s self-titled album is one of those records that sneaks up on you. Released in 2001 under France’s Long Distance label, it’s steeped in Persian folk traditions but feels like a universal journey. The ensemble brings together some serious talent—Pejman Hadadi on goblet drum and percussion, Kayhan Kalhor’s violin weaving through like a thread of gold, and Shahram Nazeri’s vocals? Holy smokes.
