Dino Saluzzi - Dedicatoria

Review by ROHMI LESTARI

Dedicatoria by Dino Saluzzi: A Raw, Unfiltered Masterpiece That Hits Like a Truck Alright, let’s get one thing straight—Dino Saluzzi’s Dedicatoria isn’t your typical "put it on in the background while you're folding laundry" kind of album. Released in 1978 outta Argentina, this sucker punches you right in the soul with its mix of Latin vibes, folk grit, and world music textures. It’s like someone took all the pain, joy, and dirt from South America and poured it into 12 tracks that refuse to be ignored. Labels like Diorama and RP Music slapped their names on this beast, but trust me, they barely contain the chaos within. Now, I’m not gonna sit here and pretend every track is a banger (because honestly, some are more chill than others), but two cuts stand out so hard they’ll stick to your brain like gum under a chair: “Canción para los Hombres Que No Lloran” and “Zamba De Juan Panadero.” First up, “Canción para los Hombres Que No Lloran.” Man, this tune hits different. With Litto Nebbia and Rodolfo Alchurrón throwing down alongside Saluzzi, it feels like a raw confession wrapped in melody. The lyrics? Brutal. They don’t just talk about men who don’t cry—they scream at ‘em. You can almost feel the weight of societal expectations crushing you as the band builds layer after layer of sound. By the time Santiago Giacobbe’s keys kick in, you’re either crying yourself or ready to punch something. Either way, mission accomplished. Then there’s “Zamba De Juan Panadero,” which slaps harder than a wet towel in a locker room. This zamba has an earthy groove that drags you straight into the streets of Argentina. Mariano Tito and Nestor Astarita bring the heat here, turning what could’ve been a simple folk song into a full-blown emotional rollercoaster. Every note feels lived-in, like these guys didn’t just play the instruments—they bled into them. And when Litto Nebbia’s voice comes through? Forget it. Your heart doesn’t stand a chance. What makes Dedicatoria wild is how unapologetically human it is. There’s no shiny production tricks or overdone arrangements—just real people making real music for folks who need to hear it. Sure, the album’s got its rough edges, but that’s kinda the point. It’s messy, raw, and beautiful in ways polished records never are. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album in 2023 feels weirdly rebellious. In a world obsessed with TikTok trends and algorithm-friendly beats, Dedicatoria reminds us why we fell in love with music in the first place—it tells stories that matter. So yeah, crank this sucker loud, let it mess you up a little, and remember that sometimes, the best art leaves scars.

Santiago Giacobbe: Piano eléctrico y Fender Rodhes.
Mariano Tito: Bajo eléctrico
Litto Nebbia: Sintetizadores Farfisa y Roland.
