Album Review: Nulla da Decidere by PoST – A Raw, Indie Rock Gem from Italy Let’s dive into Nulla da decidere, the 2008 release by PoST that feels like an under-the-radar treasure chest of raw emotion and crunchy guitar riffs. Hailing from Italy, this album blends indie rock with alternative vibes, creating something both familiar and refreshingly unpredictable. Released via Reverse Rivers Music, it’s got layers of grit, heart, and just enough pop sensibility to stick in your head for days. The lineup is tight—Gio Franco on lead vocals brings a raspy charm, while Davide Novallet (who also composed most of the tracks) handles guitars like he was born with them strapped around his neck. Add Antonio Monaco’s punchy drumming and Gigi Laurino’s groovy basslines, plus some studio magic courtesy of co-producer PoST and mixer Davide Tomat, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for greatness. Now let me zoom in on two standout tracks because if I talked about all 14 songs here, we’d be at it till next week. First up, “Rosicchiando (Intorno al centro dei Si).” Yeah, yeah, try saying that five times fast—it’s a mouthful even for Italians. But man, does it deliver. The song starts off slow, almost dreamlike, with acoustic strums that feel like walking through foggy streets late at night. Then BAM! It kicks into gear with electric distortion and Gio’s voice cracking open like a thunderstorm. There’s this moment halfway through where everything drops out except for a haunting vocal echo—it gave me goosebumps. You don’t forget stuff like that easily. Then there’s “Non c’ero,” which hits different. It’s one of those tracks that sneaks up on you. At first listen, it seems straightforward—a moody ballad with introspective lyrics (“I wasn’t there…”). But as it builds, the instrumentation gets richer, and suddenly you’re drowning in waves of sound. The interplay between the bass and drums makes it impossible not to tap your foot, even though the mood stays kinda melancholic. Honestly? This track stuck with me because it felt personal, like Gio was singing directly to my little existential crisis. One thing worth mentioning is how cohesive the whole project feels. Sure, some tracks lean more toward alt-rock than others, but every song shares that unmistakable Italian flair—melodic yet edgy, polished yet unapologetically real. And props to Alessandro Vanara for mastering; the clarity lets each instrument shine without losing the grungy edge. So what’s the verdict? Nulla da decidere isn’t perfect—it has its rough patches, moments where the production could’ve been sharper—but that’s part of its charm. It’s messy in the best way possible, like scribbling poetry in the margins of your notebook during math class. Final thought? Listening to this album made me realize something weird: sometimes you find beauty in things you didn’t know you needed. Like finding a crumpled-up note in your pocket years later and realizing it meant more than you thought. Or maybe I’m overthinking it. Either way, give Nulla da decidere a spin. Who knows? Maybe it’ll hit you right in the feels too.

Notes

  • "Nulla da decidere" is the first studio album by the band PoST (aka Proud of Serving Tuna).
  • Recorded between 2004 and 2006 at the Superbudda studio in Turin, Italy, by Davide Tomat with
  • the help of Gup Alcaro. Only two tracks were initially produced, "Non c'ero" and "Rosicchiando
  • (intorno al centro dei si)" included in an EP that the band used to give to the audience during
  • the 2005 gigs. In 2007 a limited edition CD of only 300 copies was printed, which today appears
  • to be very rare. In 2008 it was digitally distributed by Da Records with a different cover art.
  • Many years later, in April 2019, Reverse Rivers Music record label restored it's original artwork.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s an interesting fact: The album *Nulla da decidere* by PoST is a hidden gem from Italy’s indie rock scene. Released in 2008, it blends raw alternative rock vibes with introspective lyrics penned by Gio Franco. What makes it unique? The track "Rosicchiando (Intorno al centro dei Si)" appears twice on the album—once with uppercase letters and once in lowercase. Was it intentional or just a quirky oversight? Either way, it adds a touch of mystery to this underappreciated record.
