Golden Ballads by Slade: A Glittery Time Capsule from 1998 Alright, let’s talk about Golden Ballads by Slade. Released in '98 under Omen Records (yeah, Russia of all places), this album is a wild mashup of glam rock swagger and classic rock grit. If you’re into over-the-top hooks, fist-pumping choruses, and just the right amount of campy drama, this one might be your jam. It’s not perfect—heck, some tracks feel like they were recorded on a bet—but it’s got personality for days. Now, I gotta shout out two tracks that stuck with me because, honestly, they’re impossible to forget. First up: “Walking On Water.” This tune hits like a glitter bomb to the face. The opening riff? Pure ear candy. And then Noddy Holder’s voice comes in, all raspy and larger-than-life, like he’s daring you to look away. The lyrics are kinda cheesy (“walking on water”? Bold move), but somehow it works. Maybe it’s the way the drums crash in or how the chorus feels tailor-made for screaming at the top of your lungs in a sweaty club. Either way, it’s unforgettable. Then there’s “My Oh My,” which feels like an anthem for anyone who’s ever been hopelessly lost in love—or just really drunk. There’s something raw and unpolished about it, almost like they didn’t try too hard to make it perfect. That’s what makes it work, though. The melody sneaks up on you, wrapping itself around your brain until you can’t stop humming it. Plus, those backing vocals? Total goosebump material. By the time the song ends, you’re left wondering if you should call your ex or just pour another drink. The rest of the album has its moments too. Tracks like “Martha My Dear” and “Running On Alcohol” bring their own flavor to the mix, even if they don’t quite hit the same highs as the standouts. Honestly, listening to Golden Ballads feels like flipping through an old photo album—you’ll find gems, sure, but also a few blurry pics you’d rather skip past. Here’s the thing: this album shouldn’t even exist. Glam rock in the late '90s? In Russia? Come on. Yet here we are, and somehow it works. Maybe that’s why it sticks with you—it’s so gloriously out of place, so defiantly itself, that you can’t help but admire it. So yeah, give Golden Ballads a spin if you’re feeling adventurous. Just don’t blame me when “Walking On Water” gets stuck in your head for three days straight. Oh, and fun fact: rumor has it the band celebrated the release by setting off fireworks inside a Moscow bar. True story? Who knows. But hey, that’s rock ‘n’ roll for ya.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a fun fact: Slade, the British rock legends known for their glam and classic rock vibes, released an album called *Golden Ballads* in 1998. What makes it unique? It came out in Russia under the label Omen Records. The album is packed with tracks like "All Joining Hands," "Martha My Dear," and "My Oh My." It’s wild to think of a Western band making waves in Russia during that time. Shows how music can cross borders, doesn’t it?
