FUAB AltVersions by Swellfellers: A Genre-Bending Sonic Adventure Released in 2017, FUAB AltVersions by Swellfellers is the kind of album that feels like it doesn’t care about fitting into any box—and honestly, that’s what makes it so damn interesting. With genres spanning Electronic and Rock, and styles dipping into Drum n Bass, Dubstep, Experimental, EBM, and Alternative Rock, this record is a chaotic yet strangely cohesive mixtape of sounds. It’s raw, unfiltered, and brimming with personality, all while proudly wearing its “Not On Label” badge. The US-based duo pulls out some serious tricks here, blending experimental production techniques with unexpected collaborations. One standout track is “Alt_Klayton (ft. Klayton)”, specifically the Klayton Special Remastered Edition. This remix hits hard—a pulsating blend of industrial beats and glitchy synths that somehow still manages to groove. Klayton’s influence shines through, adding layers of grit and polish at the same time. What sticks with me most isn’t just how heavy it feels but how much detail there is to unpack on repeat listens. Every sound seems intentional, like they’re daring you to find something new each time. Another gem is “Dreams Of Neopolitan Ice Cream [Demo].” Yeah, the title’s quirky as hell, but don’t let that fool you—it’s got teeth. The track starts off dreamy, almost ethereal, before morphing into an aggressive wall of bass and distortion. There’s a playful tension between the sugary vibe implied by the name and the actual sonic chaos unfolding. It’s one of those songs where you’re not sure whether to nod your head or scratch it, and honestly, that duality keeps me coming back for more. Props go to Venael for the artwork, which matches the eclectic tone perfectly—visually striking without being over-the-top. And hats off to River Atkinson for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes; managing a project this wild can’t have been easy. What really sets FUAB AltVersions apart is its refusal to take itself too seriously. Tracks like “The Unlucky Peanut Butter Cups (Snatched By Klayton And Have Never Been Seen Again) [Instrumental]” make you chuckle even as they challenge your eardrums. You get the sense these guys were having fun messing around in the studio, throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. And surprisingly, most of it does. In the end, FUAB AltVersions isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking for radio-friendly hooks or predictable structures, look elsewhere. But if you dig music that pushes boundaries and throws convention out the window, this might be right up your alley. Listening to it feels like stepping into someone else’s fever dream—one filled with robots, ice cream, and maybe a peanut butter cup or two. Oh, and here’s a random thought: I bet no one expected dubstep and alternative rock could ever share a playlist like this. Guess Swellfellers proved us wrong.

About Swellfellers

It's here! The Swellfellers official(ish) "Fish Upon A Blackstar" album comes out on April 1st on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. This album came from the joke made by Klayton (Celldweller, Scandroid, Circle of Dust, Argyle Park, Ap2, Immortal, Angeldust, FreqGen) on April Fools Day several years ago, and came to be through the childish art and brainstorming jokes of River Atkinson & Venael. It has a tracklist of 13 humorous titles, with songs made by FiXT fans, for FiXT fans. Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a fun fact: The album *FUAB AltVersions* by Swellfellers is like a musical Frankenstein’s monster. It blends genres like Electronic, Rock, Drum n Bass, Dubstep, and even EBM into one wild ride. One of the standout tracks features Klayton, who not only remixed but also "snatched" a song called *The Unlucky Peanut Butter Cups*, leaving it forever instrumental. Oh, and fun detail—Venael handled the artwork while River Atkinson managed production. This album feels like a chaotic experiment that somehow works. Released in 2017 under no formal label, it’s proof that creativity doesn’t need big backing to shine.
