Epidemia by Arsenal: A Thrash-Fueled Spanish Assault That Still Kicks Ass Alright, let’s get straight to it. Epidemia by Arsenal isn’t just another rock album—it’s a goddamn explosion of hardcore and thrash fury that smashes you in the face like a beer bottle at a mosh pit. Released back in ‘92 via Anaconda Records, this Spanish beast is raw, relentless, and dripping with attitude. If you’re into fast riffs, pounding drums, and vocals that sound like they were recorded after chugging whiskey and screaming at the moon, then buckle up—this one’s for you. The lineup? Solid as hell. You’ve got Efrain and Jordi shredding guitars like their lives depend on it, Francesc holding down basslines that rumble your guts, Miki smashing the kit like a man possessed, and Xavi roaring his lungs out like he’s trying to wake the dead. These dudes didn’t come here to play nice—they came to wreck shit. Now, let’s talk tracks. While every song on Epidemia has its own punch, two cuts stand out because they’re stuck in my head like an earworm from hell. First up is “Cajas De Huevos.” What the fuck kind of title is that? It translates to “Egg Cartons,” but don’t let the goofy name fool ya. This track hits hard right off the bat, with razor-sharp riffs and a pace so relentless it feels like being chased by a chainsaw-wielding psycho. The breakdowns are nasty enough to make you wanna throw elbows in a circle pit, and Xavi’s vocals are pure venom. It’s chaotic, loud, and fucking unforgettable—the kind of tune that makes you wanna trash your room. Then there’s “Dr. Muerte” (Doctor Death). Holy crap, this one’s a banger. From the opening riff, it’s clear these guys mean business. The guitar work is frantic yet tight, like a coiled snake ready to strike. And damn, those drum fills? Insane. Miki doesn’t just play the drums—he attacks them like he’s got a personal vendetta. Lyrically, it’s all about death and despair, which fits perfectly with the aggressive vibe. By the time the solo kicks in, you’ll be headbanging so hard your neck might snap. No joke. But hey, what really makes Epidemia special is how unapologetically raw it feels. There’s no overproduction or glossy polish—just five pissed-off Spaniards laying down some of the most brutal riffs and rhythms you’ll ever hear. It’s real, it’s dirty, and it’s exactly what thrash should be. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album now, nearly 30 years later, I can’t help but think… where the hell did Arsenal go? Why aren’t more people talking about this band? Maybe they burned too bright, too fast. Or maybe they just didn’t give a fuck about fame. Either way, Epidemia deserves a spot in every thrasher’s collection. So crank it up, bang your head, and remember—sometimes the best music comes from bands who sound like they’re trying to destroy everything in their path.
