Album Review: Pg.lost – In Never Out Pg.lost’s 2009 release, In Never Out, is a sprawling journey through the vast terrains of progressive and experimental rock. With its roots firmly planted in genres like shoegaze, art rock, and space rock, this album feels less like a collection of songs and more like an immersive experience—one that pulls you into its orbit and doesn’t let go. Released across multiple countries including Germany, Italy, Sweden, South Korea, and beyond, it’s clear this record resonated globally. Backed by labels such as Pelagic Records and Black Star Foundation, In Never Out showcases not just musical ambition but also meticulous attention to detail. The artwork, handled by Kristian Karlsson and Valentin Mellström, mirrors the sonic landscape within—ethereal yet grounded, abstract yet deliberate. And while Magnus Lindberg deserves credit for mixing and mastering, it’s Pg.lost themselves who truly shine as producers and creators here. They crafted something raw yet refined, chaotic yet cohesive. It's kinda hard not to admire how much thought went into every layer of sound. Two tracks stand out in particular: “Heart of Hearts” and “Jura.” Listening to “Heart of Hearts,” I was struck by its emotional weight—it builds slowly, almost imperceptibly, until it crashes over you like a wave. The interplay between heavy riffs and delicate atmospherics creates a tension that feels unresolved, which oddly makes it stick with you long after the track ends. You find yourself wondering if it’s hopeful or melancholic—or maybe both at once. That duality is what keeps me coming back. Then there’s “Jura,” which kicks off the album with a bang (or rather, a slow burn). It starts off quiet, almost hesitant, before exploding into a wall of sound that feels equal parts shoegaze dreaminess and post-rock grandeur. There’s a sense of movement here, like watching clouds shift across a stormy sky. It’s one of those songs where you can practically see the visuals in your head without even trying. Honestly? It’s just cool. What strikes me most about In Never Out is how unapologetically European it feels—not just because of its origins, but because of its willingness to experiment and defy convention. This isn’t background music; it demands your attention. Yet despite all its complexity, it never feels pretentious. Instead, it invites listeners to lose themselves in its textures and tones. Reflecting on the album now, years later, I’m reminded of how rare it is to encounter music that feels so alive. Sure, some might call it niche, but isn’t that part of its charm? If anything, In Never Out proves that sometimes the best art comes from breaking rules—and borders. Fun fact: Did you know the photography and design were done by the same folks behind the music? Talk about wearing multiple hats! Or maybe they just really wanted everything to feel cohesive. Either way, it worked.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a cool fact: The album *In Never Out* by Pg.lost is like a musical journey across continents. Released in 2009, it brought together artists and labels from Germany, Italy, Sweden, and even South Korea. The band didn’t just stick to one style—they blended Prog Rock, Shoegaze, and Space Rock, creating something experimental yet emotional. Fun detail: the same person, Magnus Lindberg, both mixed and mastered the album, giving it a cohesive sound. And those dreamy visuals? Credit goes to Kristian Karlsson and Valentin Mellström, who also contributed to the music and photography. Tracks like "Heart of Hearts" and "Crystalline" feel like soundscapes that transport you somewhere else entirely.

I love this band, but halfway through the first track has a bunch of random drums that sound off. Otherwise great stuff
