Tiger Army - Temptation

Temptation by Tiger Army: A Psychobilly Joyride That’ll Leave You Howling Alright, buckle up, folks. Let’s talk about Temptation, the debut album from Tiger Army, a band that somehow managed to bottle the essence of 1950s greaser cool and mix it with raw rock ‘n’ roll grit. Released in 1997 under Chapter Eleven Records, this sucker is all kinds of fun—if you’re into double bass thumpin’, guitar wailin’, and vocals smooth enough to make James Dean jealous. Spoiler alert: I am. First off, let’s give props where they’re due. Nick 13 (vocals/guitar) sounds like he stepped straight outta some neon-lit diner jukebox, while Joel on double bass lays down grooves so thick you could spread ‘em on toast. Adam keeps things punchy on drums, and producer Geoff Kresge ties it all together like duct tape on a broken heart. Roger Tschann deserves a shout too for recording this beast—it’s got that analog warmth that digital wizards can only dream of replicating. Now, onto the tracks. The title track, “Temptation,” kicks things off with a swagger that’s impossible to ignore. It’s got hooks sharper than a switchblade and a vibe that screams midnight joyrides through desolate highways. What sticks with me most? The lyrics—they’re simple but damn effective, painting pictures of forbidden thrills without overthinking it. Plus, Nick 13’s voice has this eerie sweetness that makes you wanna trust him, even though deep down you know he might be trouble. Classic move. Then there’s “Jungle Cat”—a wild ride if ever there was one. This tune slinks along like its namesake, prowling through shadowy rhythms before pouncing into full-on psychobilly chaos. Joel’s basslines here are pure fire; they don’t just drive the song—they practically hijack it. And when those guitars kick in? Forget about it. You’ll find yourself air-strumming like an idiot before you realize what hit ya. Oh, and how could I forget “20 Flight Rock”? While not as instantly memorable as the first two, it rounds out the trio nicely with a bouncy energy that feels tailor-made for mosh pits or bad decisions at dive bars. Honestly, it’s the kind of track that grows on you after a few listens—like mold on forgotten bread, but way tastier. So yeah, Temptation isn’t perfect. Some tracks blend together more than others, and sure, the production leans lo-fi (but hey, isn’t that part of the charm?). Still, it’s hard not to admire what Tiger Army pulled off here—a debut album dripping with personality, guts, and enough retro flair to make your grandma swoon. Final thought? If psychobilly were a car, Temptation would be a beat-up Chevy painted cherry red, leaking oil, and blasting tunes loud enough to wake the dead. Weird thing is, you’d still take it home. And maybe, just maybe, you’d never wanna give it back. Rating: 8/10. Or 9/10 if you’re drunk.

Down on my knees I look up at the sky Here I am again although I don't know why Life is pain I know this in my heart I guess it's always been that way from the start This contemplation sets my soul afire Too many decisions that I can't decide I don't know what I'm gonna do... The things I've seen, places I've been Always told me "Stay away from sin" Now I could try and do right,

@MachineGunnEddie92 i agree with ya 100% when ya say the music kicks ass, however i completely dissagree with you telling people they dont know good music, there is no such thing as "good music" because everyone has their own deffenition of what is good and bad when it comes to music, what one person finds to be amazing could sound like trash to the next, doesnt make one wrong and the other right, thats why we have so many types of music, because peoples tastes are so different and im greatful
