His career path has also included positions with the International Trade Division of the North Carolina Department of Commerce and more than a decade of industry experience as a drug discovery molecular biologist with Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Amgen. Allen received BS and MS degrees in molecular biology from Western Michigan University and an MBA in biosciences management from North Carolina State University.
