  • About Me: I am a Professor at the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine. My research interests are human immune system, HIV infection, stem cells and aging. I am also very much interested in accelerating technological advances and how this will affect our lives in the near future. I believe there is a very good chance we will achieve technological singularity within our life time, as described by Vernor Vinge and Ray Kurzweil. Especially advances in biology will be unprecedented. I have coined the term biosingularity to define a time when we will be able to engineer completely new biological systems and have complete molecular control in manipulating existing ones. As we approach biosingularity, not only we will achieve unlimited life spans but will also be able reverse the aging process. Here my aim is to chronicle these technological advances that hopefully will provide a framework for reverse engineering biological systems.
