- About Me: I am a Trotskyist retired bus driver with ambitions to assist in rebuilding the Fourth International and ending capitalism on the planet by socialist revolution.
Born in Goleen, Co Cork in 1950. Attended St Finnbarrs Seminary until 1968 where I first encountered left wing views. Failed UCC engineering student (though I have just gained 2.1 OU degree in Honours History), came to London permanantly in 1974, having lived six months in Dublin. Joined the WRP - Gerry Healy in 1976 and supported his expulsion in 1985. Subsequently a member of various left groups, all of whom I felt moved to the right to preserve membership in an increasingly right moving political scene. Have seriously examined the history of the communist movement, particularly the early Soviet Union and, whilst obliged to acknowledge many mistakes and failing still hold to fundamental Marxist beliefs, we need a revolutionary party to lead the working classto power to open the road for a communist future, that party cannot before the revolution and must not after the revolution substitute itself for the class, no isolated revolution can survive for long, world revolution is the difficult but inescapable logic of the globalisation of the world economy. That perspective must guide all attempts at party building.
