Album Review: Let Me Bring You Up / How Do You Know by Ron Dante Released in 1970, Ron Dante’s Let Me Bring You Up / How Do You Know is a little-known gem that blends Pop and Rock into a smooth Pop Rock cocktail. Backed by RCA Victor and produced by the legendary Jeff Barry, this Turkish release feels like a time capsule of early '70s vibes with just enough quirkiness to make it memorable. Don Kirshner’s touch as recording supervisor adds that extra layer of polish, while Kim and Barry’s songwriting keeps things grounded yet catchy. The standout track here is definitely “Let Me Bring You Up.” It’s one of those tunes that grabs you from the first chord. The melody has this infectious bounce to it—like sunshine bottled up and poured straight into your ears. Dante’s vocals are warm and inviting, hitting all the right notes without overdoing it. There’s something about the way the chorus lifts you; it’s not overly complex, but man, does it stick. You’ll find yourself humming it hours later, maybe even days. That’s the magic of a well-crafted pop song—it doesn’t need bells and whistles to leave an impression. Then there’s “How Do You Know,” which takes a slightly more reflective tone. If the first track is upbeat and playful, this one feels like its thoughtful sibling. The lyrics dig a bit deeper, pondering life and relationships in a way that feels universal yet personal. The guitar work here deserves a shoutout—it’s understated but adds just the right amount of texture. It’s the kind of song that sneaks up on you, growing better with every listen. What makes this album interesting isn’t just the music itself but also its context. Released in Turkey under RCA, it carries a sense of being both familiar and exotic. It’s almost like finding a hidden postcard from another era—a reminder of how interconnected music was becoming globally, even back then. Looking back at Let Me Bring You Up / How Do You Know, it’s hard not to appreciate its charm. Sure, it might not be groundbreaking, but sometimes simplicity hits differently. And honestly? Listening to these tracks now feels like rediscovering an old friend you forgot you had. Who would’ve thought a Turkish release from 1970 could still resonate today? Maybe that’s the real magic of music—it finds ways to surprise us when we least expect it.

Don Kirshner couldn't stop Ron from doing side projects like this and the Cuff Links, but Ron could not acknowledge he was Archie until after the act folded in 1972.
