Album Review: Saddle Up Preparate by David Christie Released in 1982 under the Polydor label, Saddle Up Preparate is a hidden gem of the electronic disco era. Hailing from Spain, this album feels like a time capsule that captures the funky beats and synthesizer-heavy vibes of its time. Produced and written by Jack Robinson and James Bolden, the record delivers an infectious groove that’s hard to forget. One standout track is “Saddle Up,” which kicks off with a punchy bassline and shimmering synths that immediately pull you onto the dance floor. The rhythm has this hypnotic quality—like it knows exactly how to get your feet moving without asking permission. It’s one of those songs where you find yourself humming along even hours after listening. What makes it memorable? Maybe it’s the way the layers build up, creating a sense of anticipation that never quite resolves but leaves you wanting more. Or maybe it’s just the sheer fun factor—it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and honestly, neither should we. Another highlight is “The Shots.” This track slows things down just enough to let the listener breathe while still keeping the energy alive. The percussion here feels almost tribal, blending seamlessly with the pulsating electronics. There’s something raw about it—like they didn’t overthink it, and that simplicity works wonders. You can imagine hearing this at some late-night club back in the day, everyone losing themselves in the moment. While not every track hits the same high notes (pun intended), there’s a charm to Saddle Up Preparate that keeps you coming back. It might not be perfect, but who cares? Sometimes imperfection is what makes art stick. And hey, isn’t that what disco was all about—letting loose and embracing the flaws? Here’s the kicker though: for an album made in Spain during the early ‘80s, it sounds surprisingly universal. Listening to it now feels like stepping into another world—a place where neon lights flash endlessly, and no one ever gets tired of dancing. Oddly enough, it also makes me wonder why I don’t own a pair of roller skates yet. Maybe it’s time to change that.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: The album *Saddle Up Preparate* by David Christie is a hidden gem from the early '80s disco scene. Released in Spain in 1982, it blends electronic beats with funky disco vibes. What makes it unique is that both tracks, "Saddle Up" and "The Signals," were written and produced by the same duo—Jack Robinson and James Bolden. It’s like they poured their entire vibe into just two songs, but those songs hit hard. Not many people know about this album today, but fans of retro sounds still dig it up. Polydor took a chance on this release, and it became a small but memorable piece of disco history.
