Devic - Obscure Patterns

Obscure Patterns by Devic: A Psy-Trance Journey Worth Taking If you’re into electronic music that takes your brain on a wild ride, Obscure Patterns by Devic is one of those albums you can’t just ignore. Released back in 2007 under Canada’s D-A-R-K Records, this Psy-Trance gem still feels fresh today. It’s got everything—deep beats, trippy soundscapes, and enough energy to keep you moving for hours. And let’s not forget the people behind it: Devang Dedhia (producer, songwriter, all-around wizard), Arahat handling mastering duties, and Mayank Dedhia creating some seriously cool artwork. Now, I’ll be honest—I’m not gonna dive into every track here because life’s too short. But two songs stood out so much they’ve been stuck in my head since day one: “Out There” and “Till The Sun Breaks.” “Out There” kicks things off with this eerie vibe that grabs you right away. The bassline hits hard without being overbearing, while these little glitchy sounds pop up like surprises in a bag of chips. You know how sometimes tracks feel predictable after 30 seconds? Not this one. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, something new sneaks in—a weird synth line or an unexpected rhythm shift—and suddenly you’re hooked again. It’s like staring at clouds; every time you blink, there’s more to see. Then there’s “Till The Sun Breaks,” which kinda does what its title says—it builds until you feel like dawn’s breaking inside your headphones. This one starts slow but don’t get comfy, cause about halfway through, BAM! Everything explodes into this euphoric rush. The melody has this uplifting quality, almost spiritual if you’re into that sorta thing. I remember listening to it late at night once, thinking, “Wow, this would make even Monday mornings bearable.” The other track, “Insomnia,” deserves a shoutout too—it lives up to its name perfectly. Listening feels like floating between dreams and reality, where nothing makes sense but somehow everything connects. Creepy yet comforting? Yeah, that’s exactly it. What’s funny is how timeless this album feels. Like, sure, it came out in 2007, but none of it screams “early internet era.” Maybe that’s why it holds up so well. Or maybe it’s just Devang Dedhia knowing his stuff. Either way, hats off to him. Anyway, wrapping this up—if you’re looking for music that challenges your ears AND keeps your feet tapping, give Obscure Patterns a spin. Honestly, though? Don’t thank me later. Thank yourself for stumbling across something this good. Oh, and bonus points if you pair it with neon lights and zero sleep. Trust me, it works wonders. P.S. Side note: whoever decided to put Mayank Dedhia on artwork duty nailed it. That cover art matches the vibe spot-on. Coincidence? Probably not.
