Duke Nukem - Duke Nukem

Duke Nukem – The Album That Kicks Ass (and Takes Names) Alright, let’s get this straight: Duke Nukem isn’t just a video game icon anymore—he’s also the name of one hell of a rock album. Released in 2015 across Russia, the USA, Europe, and Germany, this punk-heavy metal-hardcore mashup hits hard like a sledgehammer to the face. With labels like Not On Label, Headnoise Records, and Argh.fuck.kill. backing it up, you know this thing doesn’t mess around. The band behind the chaos? A crew of dudes who clearly live for loud guitars, fast drums, and raw energy. You’ve got Jose and Roman Grek shredding on guitars, Zitz holding down the basslines, Milky smashing the drums, and Max screaming his lungs out on vocals. Oh, and shoutout to Лапша (aka “Noodles”) for recording, mixing, and mastering everything—this guy deserves an award or at least a lifetime supply of vodka. Cyrik nailed the artwork too, giving the whole package that gritty DIY vibe we all love. Now, onto the music itself. This album is packed with bangers, but two tracks stuck with me like gum under my shoe: "Road Dog" and "Город Зомби (Nightmare City)." First off, "Road Dog." Holy crap, this song feels like riding a motorcycle through a thunderstorm while someone yells insults at you. It’s fast, aggressive, and totally unhinged—the kind of track that makes your neighbors hate you if you blast it loud enough. The riffs are sharp as broken glass, and Max’s vocals sound like he gargled nails before stepping into the booth. I kept coming back to this one because it’s got that perfect mix of punk attitude and metal grit. Plus, the lyrics feel like they were written by someone who’s been chewed up and spat out by life—but still refuses to back down. Love that energy. Then there’s "Город Зомби (Nightmare City)," which might be my favorite cut on the album. If you’ve ever wondered what a zombie apocalypse sounds like set to music, here’s your answer. The intro alone gives me chills—it’s slow, ominous, and builds up tension like a horror movie soundtrack. Then BAM! The song explodes into full-on chaos. The dual-language approach adds a cool twist; hearing the same title sung in Russian and English feels oddly cinematic. And those breakdowns? Brutal. Like, punch-a-hole-in-your-wall brutal. Other standout moments include “Fuck You” (because obviously), “Banners Of War,” and “Roar,” but honestly, every track brings something wild to the table. There’s no filler here—just relentless aggression from start to finish. What really struck me about Duke Nukem is how unapologetically raw it feels. These guys didn’t polish this album to death—they let it stay dirty, messy, and real. It’s refreshing in a world where so much music feels overproduced and soulless. So yeah, if you’re into punk, hardcore, or heavy metal, do yourself a favor and give this album a spin. Just don’t blame me when your ears start bleeding—or when you find yourself randomly shouting “FUCK YOU!” at strangers on the street. Oh, and one last thing: whoever thought naming both the band AND the album after a '90s video game hero was a good idea? Genius move. Totally works. Now excuse me while I go listen to "Road Dog" again and pretend I’m living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Interesting fact about Album

Did you know that the album *Duke Nukem* by the band Duke Nukem is a wild mashup of punk, heavy metal, and hardcore? It came out in 2015 and was released across Russia, the USA, Europe, and Germany. The entire album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by a person credited simply as "Лапша," which translates to "Noodles" in English. How’s that for a DIY vibe? Plus, it includes tracks with names like "Fuck You" (twice!) and "Berserker," so you know it’s got attitude to spare.

Stumbled upon this cause I'm a fan of the computer games. Pretty cool tune, reminds me of Motorhead.
