Eddie Fowlkes - Welcome To My World

Review by Michael Kelly

Welcome To My World by Eddie Fowlkes: A Deep Dive into House and Techno Vibes Alright, let’s get into it. Eddie Fowlkes’ Welcome To My World dropped in 2021, and honestly, it’s one of those albums that just sticks with you. It’s got this raw energy—like, you can tell Fowlkes wasn’t tryna chase trends or anything. He was just making what felt right. The album straddles the line between house and techno, blending grooves that feel both nostalgic and fresh. Plus, shoutout to Submerge Recordings, City Boy, and Uncivilized World for putting this out—it’s got that underground vibe but still feels polished enough to slap on repeat. The tracks? Oh man. There’s a lot to unpack here, but I’ll focus on two that really hit different for me: “Deep Groove” and “Welcome To My World.” “Deep Groove” is exactly what it sounds like—a hypnotic, head-nodding jam that just locks you in. It’s not overly complicated, which is kinda why I love it. The bassline is smooth as hell, and there’s this subtle layering in the percussion that sneaks up on you. You don’t even realize how deep you’re into the track until you’re like, “Wait, how long has this been playing?” It’s the kind of song that makes you wanna close your eyes and zone out, but also could easily light up a dancefloor if played at the right moment. Honestly, it’s one of those tracks that reminds me why house music will never die. Then there’s the title track, “Welcome To My World.” Man, this one feels personal. It’s got this atmospheric build-up that feels like walking into a dimly lit club where everyone knows your name (even though they don’t). The synths are dreamy, but there’s an edge to them—like Fowlkes is inviting you in but also letting you know he’s in control. And when the beat drops? Pure fire. It’s one of those tracks that feels cinematic, like it’s telling a story without saying a word. Props to Eddie for writing and producing something so vibey—it’s hard not to hit replay. Side note: gotta give credit to John Q. Public for the artwork and layout. It’s simple but effective, matching the vibe of the album perfectly. And Ade’ M.H. Mainor deserves a nod for executive-producing—clearly, they kept the vision tight. So yeah, Welcome To My World isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s real, unfiltered, and packed with soul. Listening to it feels like hanging out with an old friend who just gets you. If you’re into house and techno, this is definitely worth a spin—or ten. Random thought, though: why are there two tracks named almost the same thing? Like, we’ve got “Track Ten” and “Track 10,” plus “August 13th” and “Aug. 13th.” Is that some kind of meta joke? Or did someone mess up? Either way, it’s quirky enough to make me chuckle every time I see it.
