Feed The Horse EP by Fagget Fairys: A Genre-Bending Ride Worth Remembering Alright, let’s talk about Feed The Horse EP by Fagget Fairys. Released in 2010, this little gem is a wild mix of dance, electronic, folk, hip-hop, and even some world vibes. It’s like they threw a bunch of genres into a blender and hit "puree." And honestly? It works. Kinda like when you accidentally stumble on an amazing playlist at 3 AM—it just clicks. The album hops across countries like Denmark, South Korea, the US, and Europe, which makes sense because it feels like a global party. Labels like Music For Dreams and Sky Music were behind it, so you know there’s some serious backing here. But what really stands out are the tracks themselves. I’ll dive into two that stuck with me. First up, “Feed The Horse (Album Version).” This track is pure ear candy. It’s got this infectious electro-house beat that grabs you right away, but then—bam!—there’s this unexpected accordion solo from Mikkel Hess. Like…what?! Accordion in an electronic track? Who does that?! But somehow, it works. It’s quirky as hell and gives the song this weirdly charming vibe, like someone decided to throw a barn dance in the middle of a rave. Carla Camilla Hjort’s vocals float over everything, smooth yet edgy, tying it all together. You don’t forget a track like this easily—it’s too unique not to stick in your head. Then there’s “Roll The Dice.” Oh man, this one hits different. It’s darker, grittier, almost leaning into dubstep territory. The bassline is so thick you could spread it on toast. There’s also this haunting trumpet line (again, thanks Mikkel Hess!) that sneaks in halfway through, giving it this cinematic feel. It’s the kind of track that makes you wanna stare dramatically out a rain-streaked window while pretending you’re in a movie. Not gonna lie, I’ve listened to it on repeat during late-night drives more times than I care to admit. What’s cool about this EP is how collaborative it feels. You’ve got Carla Camilla Hjort co-producing most of the tracks, Bjørn Winnem mixing and producing others, and a whole crew of musicians adding their own flair—banjos, trombones, ukuleles, you name it. Even the artwork by Anika Lori and photography by Nicky De Silva give off these artsy, indie vibes that match the music perfectly. Looking back, Feed The Horse EP isn’t perfect—it’s messy in places, and some remixes feel unnecessary—but maybe that’s part of its charm. It’s unapologetically itself, refusing to fit neatly into any one box. In a way, it reminds me of those random nights out where nothing goes according to plan, but somehow, it ends up being unforgettable anyway. So yeah, if you’re into experimental sounds or just wanna hear something completely outta left field, check this out. Just don’t blame me if you find yourself randomly humming accordion solos in the shower.
