Dubstoned EP2 Industry Xclusive by Funckarma: A Hidden Gem from the Dutch Underground If you're into electronic music that messes with your head in all the right ways, Dubstoned EP2 Industry Xclusive by Funckarma is worth a spin. Released back in 2010 under their own label, Funcken Industry, this little nugget of dubstep and illbient goodness hails straight outta the Netherlands. It’s one of those albums that sneaks up on you—quiet at first, but then it digs its claws in deep. Roel Funcken remastered this thing, which tells you something about how much care went into it. You can hear it too; everything feels crisp without losing that raw edge. The EP has five tracks total, but I wanna zoom in on two that really stuck with me: "Nays Of Dight (Xtra Hatz)" and "Otrivines." Let’s start with "Nays Of Dight (Xtra Hatz)." Man, this track hits different. From the moment it kicks off, there’s this gritty bassline that just growls at you, like an angry robot trying to be chill but failing miserably. Then layers of glitchy beats come crashing in, making it feel unpredictable yet oddly satisfying. What makes it memorable for me? There's this weird little synth riff halfway through that sounds like someone dropped a spoon into a malfunctioning toaster. Sounds nuts, right? But somehow, it works. Totally caught me off guard—and isn’t that what good music should do? Then there’s "Otrivines," which goes full-on atmospheric vibes. This one feels like walking through a foggy forest late at night while tripping balls (not that I would know anything about that). The pacing is slower compared to other tracks, but don’t let that fool ya—it builds tension so well, it almost feels cinematic. Around the three-minute mark, these haunting pads swell up, giving me goosebumps every damn time. It’s not flashy or loud, but it doesn’t need to be. Sometimes subtlety speaks louder than any drop ever could. The rest of the EP holds its own too—"2nd Bace" slaps hard, "Metalliz" brings some industrial grit, and "Third Bace" closes things out strong—but those two tracks are the ones I keep coming back to. They’ve got personality, texture, and enough quirks to make them stand out even years later. Reflecting on this album now, it’s wild how timeless it still feels. Back in 2010, dubstep was blowing up everywhere, but Funckarma didn’t chase trends—they carved out their own space instead. And honestly? That’s kinda rare. Listening to this reminds me why I fell in love with electronic music in the first place: because it lets artists play mad scientist with sound. Plus, who wouldn’t want to hang out with robots having identity crises? So yeah, if you’re hunting for something fresh yet nostalgic, give Dubstoned EP2 Industry Xclusive a shot. Just don’t blame me if “Nays Of Dight” gets stuck in your head for days.
