Album Review: Everybody EP by Gameboyz
Released in 2014 under the Biologic Records label, Everybody EP by Gameboyz is a tight yet punchy journey into the heart of electronic music. Hailing from France, this four-track project dives deep into genres like Techno, Acid House, and straight-up Acid with an undeniable House backbone. It’s not perfect, but it’s got that raw energy fans of the scene will dig.
The standout track for me has to be “Ritmo Latino.” Right off the bat, it throws you into this hypnotic groove with its squelchy acid lines—classic 303 vibes, if you know what I mean. The rhythm feels both nostalgic and fresh, pulling inspiration from Latin beats without overdoing it. What makes it stick? Probably the way it builds tension before dropping back into that infectious bassline. You can almost picture yourself losing track of time on some dimly lit dancefloor while this one plays. And just when you think it couldn’t get better, there’s the “Remote Remix” version which strips things down a bit, adding this eerie atmospheric layer that gives the original a run for its money.
Another banger is “Everybody,” especially the Bozzwell Remix. This remix takes the already solid foundation of the original and flips it into something darker and heavier. The kicks hit harder, the synths feel grittier, and there’s this weird sense of urgency running through it all. Honestly, it’s tracks like these that remind you why house music still matters—it connects on a level words often can’t touch.
One thing about Everybody EP is how unapologetically French it feels. Not because of any clichés, but because it embraces that balance between experimental sounds and dancefloor functionality. It doesn’t try too hard to impress; instead, it lets the music speak for itself. That’s kinda refreshing in today’s overly polished scene.
To wrap it up, Everybody EP isn’t gonna change your life or anything, but it’s the kind of release you pull out when you’re in the mood for something dependable yet exciting. Plus, who doesn’t love a good acid line every now and then? Funny enough, listening to this made me realize how much we take simple rhythms for granted—they’re not just beats; they’re little moments of escape.
