Beware Addicted by Joggo Smoke: A Reggae Punch to the Gut Alright, let’s get real. Joggo Smoke’s Beware Addicted isn’t your typical reggae album that just chills in the background while you sip piña coladas. Nah, this 2009 banger from Germany smacks you upside the head and demands attention. Released under Sound Quake with Smoke himself pulling double duty as producer, it’s raw, unfiltered, and hits harder than most stuff out there. First up, “Beware.” Man, this track is like a warning shot fired straight into your skull. The bassline? Vicious. It growls at you like some kind of pissed-off animal. And those lyrics? They stick to your brain like gum on a hot day. Smoke doesn’t mess around—he’s telling you to wake up, pay attention, stop sleepwalking through life. By the time the chorus kicks in, you’re either nodding along or questioning every bad decision you’ve ever made. Either way, it works. Then there’s “Addicted.” Holy crap, this one’s a gut-punch. It starts off smooth, almost too smooth, lulling you into a false sense of security before dropping the hammer. The rhythm grabs hold of you like an old friend who won’t let go—even when they probably should. Lyrically, it dives deep into dependency, but not in some preachy way. No, this feels personal, like Smoke’s spilling his guts over a beat that refuses to quit. You remember this track because it makes you uncomfortable—and damn if that ain’t powerful. Look, I’m not gonna sit here and pretend this album’s perfect. Some parts feel rough around the edges, and yeah, maybe a few transitions could use work. But honestly? That’s what makes Beware Addicted so refreshing. It doesn’t try to be polished; it tries to hit hard. And man, does it ever. Here’s the kicker though—why the hell isn’t more German reggae blowing up? Like seriously, what gives? This album proves the scene can throw down with the best of ‘em. So next time someone says reggae’s all about beaches and sunshine, shove this record in their face. Because Beware Addicted ain’t here to play nice—it’s here to remind you music still has teeth.
