Kerli - Zero Gravity

Zero Gravity by Kerli: A Dance Floor Odyssey You Can’t Ignore So, let’s talk about Zero Gravity by Kerli. Released in 2012 under Island Records (yep, those guys), this album is basically a remix buffet for anyone who loves their pop with a side of dance floor euphoria. It’s like someone took one stellar track—“Zero Gravity”—and said, “Let’s make 17 versions of this bad boy.” And honestly? They kinda nailed it. First off, the genres here are all over the place but in the best way possible. Pop, dance, electronic—it’s like a musical chimera that somehow works. Styles range from house to Europop to club/dance vibes, so whether you’re into fist-pumping beats or just wanna vibe while pretending you're floating in space, there’s something for everyone. Now, let me break down two tracks that stuck with me because, let’s face it, remembering all 17 remixes feels like trying to memorize pi backward. Track 1: Zero Gravity (Laidback Luke Remix) This version hits different. Like, imagine if your favorite EDM festival decided to throw a surprise party inside your brain. The drop? Chef’s kiss. Laidback Luke knows how to turn up the heat without burning the whole kitchen down. What I love most is how it keeps the ethereal vibe of the original but adds this pulsating energy that makes you wanna move—even if you’ve got two left feet. Plus, I’m pretty sure aliens would approve of this remix; it’s otherworldly good. Track 2: Zero Gravity (Almighty Ruff Loaders Dub) Okay, this one’s wild. If the Laidback Luke remix is the life of the party, then this Almighty Ruff Loaders Dub is its weird cousin who shows up uninvited but ends up being hilarious. It strips things back to basics, focusing on heavy basslines and raw beats. It’s less floaty-dreamland and more “let’s get sweaty on the dance floor.” There’s something oddly satisfying about how stripped-down yet chaotic it feels. Like eating cereal with chopsticks—it shouldn’t work, but it does. --- Here’s the thing about Zero Gravity: it’s not an album in the traditional sense—it’s more like an experiment gone gloriously right. With so many remixes, it could’ve easily felt repetitive, but each version brings something fresh to the table. Whether you’re vibing to the dreamy originals or losing yourself in the thumping club edits, there’s no shortage of ear candy here. But at the end of the day, what really struck me wasn’t the music itself—it was how Kerli managed to create a song so versatile it became a chameleon. One minute it’s chill, the next it’s ready to slap you awake with a bassline. And maybe that’s the point. Life isn’t static, and neither is Zero Gravity. Final thought: Listening to this album feels like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded—you never know where it’ll take you, but damn, the ride is fun. Now excuse me while I go listen to the Extended Remix Instrumental again... or was it the Almighty Club Remix? Oh well, they’re probably both awesome anyway.

It used to be on her first album, but the two subsequent ones are definitely not bubblegoth, they are very very different and I think cyber goth makes far sense to describe them.
