About Killing Joke

Seminal postpunk band formed in Notting Hill in 1979 by Jaz Coleman, Geordie Walker, and Paul Ferguson, their dark experimental style provided both an alternative to the contemporary punk scene and the less aggressive sound of many other postpunk bands. Massively influential on a range of different styles of music, they pioneered the industrial metal style with 1990's .

Great track
Louie song
Respect the killing joke yooo ?????????????
Tjrs un plaise d être à l écoute de kiling joke yooo
Yep awesome
Great snare drum sound on the intro. Not sure how they got that. It appears to be miked at some distance to get the sound of the room, but it also sounds sharp too.
This is how you start a debut album the classic jaz Coleman synth riff and Geordie's sledgehammer riffs and it kicks you in the ass and gets you pumped
Saw them as one of the opening bands at a festival sort of show for the Police near Toronto. I remember them being incredibly intense and great. They left with a derogatory comment: Go on back to your love songs, or something of the sort. Hahaha, the Go Go's were coming up soon, maybe? That said, given that Iggy Pop The Payolas, and The Specials were there? It wasn't all love songs!
Man watching video
The clock keeps on ticking
He doesn't know why
He's just cattle for slaughter
The, requiem
When the meaningful words
When they cease to function
When there's nothing to say
When will it start bothering you?
The, requiem
Only a hint of religion
Uncensors to its false depravity
The sound of breaking glass
This is a reflection
The clock keeps on ticking
He doesn't know why
He's just cattle for slaughter
The, requiem
When the meaningful words
When they cease to function
When there's nothing to say
When will it start bothering you?
The, requiem
Only a hint of religion
Uncensors to its false depravity

The figure in the top right looks like the outline of Gary Glitter with his huge quiff. LOL
Once heard cannot be forgotten. Best synth bass line ever...(just one note).
New material in 2022 "Lord Of Chaos" EP title track is a belter, to use a term from somewhere near their genesis...
One of my favorite bands of the 80s; they played my home town of Stroud & remember jumping up on the stage and singing this track all the way through with Jaz Coleman's consent. incredible story, but true!
Made a music video for this song: https://youtu.be/lWscdRKfxMk
Did these guys also make DEATH PARTY??
Alright I suppose.
This brings me back to my teenage years!
Lyrics are uncomfortably relevant today…
I remember listening to this and just thinking it was a masterpiece. I was like 15!
The Foo fighters covered this song for their Special edition "the colour and the shape" album 1997 with Taylor Hawkins on the drums
