Review by James Willey

Album Review: Forms Of Expression by King Of Brazil King Of Brazil’s Forms Of Expression is a solid entry in the UK house scene, brought to life under the Grove Records banner. With its trio of remixes—Freedom Mix, Radioactive Mix, and Deep Down Dub Mix—the album offers listeners a chance to explore different shades of the same core idea. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s got that groove that’ll keep your head nodding and feet moving. The standout track for me has to be the Freedom Mix. Right off the bat, it hits you with this lush, euphoric vibe. The production feels clean without being overly polished, leaving just enough grit to give it character. J. Gould and M. Barber’s songwriting shines here, weaving together those hypnotic melodies that feel both familiar and fresh. You can tell Engineer M. Mulligan had a hand in making sure everything sits perfectly in the mix—it’s tight but still breathes. There’s something about the way the synths swell that sticks with you long after the track ends. Another banger is the Deep Down Dub Mix. This one leans into that late-night warehouse energy, stripping things back to let the basslines do the talking. It’s darker than the other versions, with these echoing vocal snippets that feel like whispers from another room. If you’re into tracks that build tension before dropping into something heavy, this one’s for you. Honestly, it’s the kind of cut that could easily become a secret weapon for DJs looking to spice up their sets. What makes Forms Of Expression work so well isn’t just the music itself—it’s how accessible it feels. Whether you’re a diehard house fan or just someone who appreciates good vibes, there’s something here for everyone. King Of Brazil clearly knows his stuff as a producer, pulling together elements that feel authentic rather than forced. Here’s the thing though—while I enjoyed the album, part of me wishes they’d pushed the envelope a bit more. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great, but sometimes you want an artist to take risks and really blow your mind. That said, maybe that’s missing the point. Maybe Forms Of Expression isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel; maybe it’s just reminding us why we fell in love with house music in the first place. Final thought? Listening to this album felt like catching up with an old friend—you know what you’re gonna get, but damn, does it feel good to hear their voice again.
