Black Bones - Pirates Of The Coast

Review by Graham Johnson

If you’re into Rock & Roll with a gritty edge, Pirates of the Coast by Black Bones is one helluva ride. Released back in 2009 under Black Blood Brigade Records (cool name, right?), this Italian rock gem feels like a wild night out on the open sea—complete with booze, bravado, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. The album kicks off strong with "Rock 'n' Roll," which pretty much does what it says on the tin. It’s raw, punchy, and gets your blood pumping from the first riff. You can tell these guys aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel here—they’re just having fun, and that energy is contagious. The track sticks in my head because it’s simple but effective, like a leather jacket or a good whiskey. Plus, who doesn’t love hearing “Rock ‘n’ Roll” shouted at full volume? Feels like an anthem for anyone who ever wanted to grab life by the horns. Another standout is "Captain Blood." This one has all the swagger of a pirate captain strutting across his ship, sword in hand. The guitar work is killer—shredding solos mixed with groovy rhythms that make you wanna stomp your feet. There’s something about the way the vocals snarl through the lyrics; it’s like they’re daring you not to sing along. Honestly, I couldn’t stop humming the chorus hours later—it’s got that sticky quality that makes great rock songs unforgettable. Now, let’s talk bonus tracks. They throw in two versions of "Good Times" and "Rock 'n' Roll," which might feel a bit unnecessary unless you’re really digging those tunes. But hey, more music never hurts, right? And then there's "Drink Up Me Mateys"—a title so ridiculous it demands attention. It’s exactly what you’d expect: rowdy, loud, and perfect for losing your voice while screaming along. What surprised me most about Pirates of the Coast wasn’t just how catchy it was, but how much personality oozes out of every track. These dudes clearly love their craft, and it shows. Listening to this album feels like hanging out with old friends who are always up for causing some harmless trouble. Oh, and here’s a random thought—how many albums have TWO songs about rattling bones? Maybe Gill Mc Gee deserved his own spinoff album. Just saying. So yeah, if you’re looking for something unpretentious, high-energy, and dripping with rock spirit, give Pirates of the Coast a shot. It’s not gonna change your life, but it’ll definitely make your day better. Cheers to Black Bones for reminding us that sometimes, all you need is a little rebellion and a lot of volume.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a fun fact: The album *Pirates Of The Coast* by Black Bones is like a treasure chest of rock 'n' roll vibes. It came out in 2009 in Italy and has a bonus track called "Good Times." What’s wild? The track "The Demon's Lair" shows up twice on the album. Maybe they just loved it so much they couldn’t resist doubling down. Cheers to pirate-themed rock!
