Review by Kim Puffer

Alright, let’s dive into This Time I Would Know It's Just The Idea by Miki & Griff. This little gem from Spruce Records is a cozy blend of folk, world, and country vibes—basically, the kind of album you throw on when you’re either reminiscing about something or pretending you’ve got your life together. Spoiler alert: neither works, but hey, at least the music’s good. First off, let me talk about the title track, “This Time I Would Know.” Man, this one sticks with you like gum under your boot. It’s got that slow-burn country feel where the lyrics hit just right without trying too hard. You know those moments in life where you think, “Yeah, next time I’ll totally nail it”? Well, this song captures that vibe perfectly. Miki & Griff don’t overcomplicate things here—they let the melody do most of the talking, and honestly? That’s what makes it so dang relatable. Plus, there’s something about the way their voices blend; it feels like they’re sitting across from you at a campfire, sharing stories instead of performing. Then there’s “It’s Just The Idea,” which flips the mood slightly. If the first track feels like a reflective sigh, this one’s more like a quiet chuckle. The guitar work is simple but effective, almost like it’s tiptikeing around the edges of your brain, nudging memories you didn’t even know were hiding there. What gets me is how effortlessly they turn an abstract concept—like chasing ideas that never quite pan out—into something tangible. By the end, you’re nodding along like, “Oh yeah, I’ve been there.” One thing I gotta say: this album doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. And honestly? That’s refreshing. In a world full of shiny production tricks and auto-tuned everything, Miki & Griff keep things grounded. They remind us that sometimes all you need is a solid tune and some heartfelt lyrics to make magic happen. So yeah, if you’re looking for something low-key yet impactful, give this one a spin. Honestly, listening to it feels like finding an old photo album tucked away in your attic—it’s familiar, maybe a bit dusty, but packed with moments worth revisiting. Random thought though: why does every country-inspired album make me crave biscuits and gravy? Like, seriously, someone explain that connection because now I’m starving.
