The King Biscuits Music Show by The Police – A Hidden Gem from 1979 Alright, let’s talk about The King Biscuits Music Show, a quirky little release by The Police that came out in '79. It’s not their most famous work (hello, Reggatta de Blanc stole the spotlight), but it’s got some serious charm for fans of pop rock with a side of grit. Released under King Biscuit Inc., this album feels like stumbling across an old vinyl at a garage sale—unexpected but kinda cool. First off, if you’re into punchy guitar riffs and Sting’s unmistakable vocals, then “Can’t Stand Losing You” is gonna grab your attention right away. This track hits hard with its mix of urgency and melody. I mean, who hasn’t felt that panic when things start falling apart? The reprise version later on the album gives it a second life, almost like they didn’t want to let go of how good it was. Smart move, guys. Then there’s “Message in a Bottle.” Honestly, how do you not remember this one? It’s catchy as heck, with lyrics that stick to your brain like gum under a desk. The whole theme of isolation and connection just sneaks up on you while you're busy tapping your feet. Plus, Stewart Copeland’s drumming is so tight here—it’s impossible not to air-drum along. Like, seriously, try listening without moving. Bet you can’t. Other tracks like “Roxanne” and “Hole in My Life” round out the collection nicely, giving us glimpses of what made The Police such legends. But honestly, even though these songs are iconic, it’s the energy of The King Biscuits Music Show that makes it stand out. Feels raw, unpolished, and real—as if they were just jamming and someone hit record. Looking back, this album reminds me of those moments when you find something amazing where you least expect it. Maybe it’s not perfect, maybe it’s a bit rough around the edges, but isn’t that part of the fun? Listening to this feels like eavesdropping on a band figuring themselves out—and loving every second of it. Oh, and random thought: why doesn’t anyone make albums with reprises anymore? Feels like a lost art. Anyways, give this one a spin if you love rock with personality. Trust me, it won’t disappoint.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: The Police’s *The King Biscuits Music Show* isn’t your typical album. It came out in 1979 and was released by a small label called King Biscuit Inc. What makes it stand out? It’s more like a live radio show recording than a traditional studio album. Tracks like *Message In A Bottle* and *Roxanne* were already hits, but this release gave fans a raw, unpolished feel of the band’s energy. It’s like peeking behind the curtain at their early days. Not many people know about this gem, but it’s a must-listen for die-hard fans.

My first concert ever with go gos opening Philly Spectrum ghost tour 82. The guy I went with dyed his hair blonde for the show. When they came out and busted out Messafe in a Bottle he went bounding thru the seats to the front, didn't see him till after the show. Found a home in second level dancing at the end to Roxanne. Then 83 Synchronicity with REM, Joan Jett and Madness opening....and damn they retired...Was overjoyed to go to Bonnaroo in 2007 where they just blew the youngish crowd away. Saw 3 shows 2008-2009, last one at Summer Fest where they busted out demolition man, invisible sun. Message to open so great
