Feel It Exhibition Edition: A Psychedelic Brain Melt from 1969 Alright, buckle up, because Ralph Lundsten and Leo Nilson’s Feel It Exhibition Edition is like sticking your head inside a broken analog synth while someone throws paint at you. This Swedish gem—released under the Andromedia label in ’69—isn’t just music; it’s an experiment gone gloriously right. Abstract? Hell yeah. Experimental? Double hell yeah. It’s electronic meets classical with enough weirdness to make your brain itch. First off, can we talk about that cover art by Erkki Kurenniemi? That dude didn’t design a sleeve—he built a portal into another dimension. You look at it, and suddenly you’re questioning reality. But let’s cut the fluff and dive into what really matters: the tracks. “Feel” kicks things off like a malfunctioning robot trying to seduce you. The track groans, chirps, and glitches its way through layers of sound so dense you might need scuba gear for your ears. What sticks with me? Those haunting tones—they’re not melodies but whispers of something ancient and alien. Every time I hear it, I’m reminded why people thought electronic music was witchcraft back then. It's disorienting as hell, but damn if it doesn’t grab you by the soul and shake. Then there’s “It,” which feels like stumbling into a secret lab where scientists are building emotions out of circuits. The pacing is all over the place, like they couldn’t decide whether to calm you down or freak you out. Spoiler alert: They go full freakout. There’s this one moment—a sharp, stabbing synth line—that hits like a jolt of electricity. Feels like getting tazed by inspiration itself. These guys weren’t making songs; they were conjuring experiences. What makes Feel It Exhibition Edition unforgettable isn’t just how ahead of its time it sounds—it’s how unapologetically raw it is. No polish, no pandering, just pure sonic chaos wrapped up in some of the most bizarrely beautiful experimentation you’ll ever encounter. Listening to it now, decades later, feels like eavesdropping on two mad geniuses who knew exactly what they were doing—even when they didn’t. Here’s the kicker though: If aliens ever invade Earth looking for proof we had artistic guts, this album should be humanity's exhibit A. Fucked-up, fearless, and utterly brilliant. Just don’t play it around your grandma unless she’s cool with mind-melting noise.
