SAWA - Time Space

Time Space by SAWA: A J-Pop-Electronic Mashup That Hits Hard Alright, buckle up. Time Space by SAWA ain’t your grandma’s playlist—it’s a punchy, neon-lit ride through pop and electronic vibes with just enough J-pop quirk to keep you hooked. Released back in 2009 under Cyclops (yeah, the label name sounds like something outta sci-fi), this album feels like a time capsule from an era when futuristic beats were still kinda fresh. And let me tell ya, it slaps harder than some of today’s overproduced nonsense. Let’s talk tracks for a sec. First off, there’s “Are You Ready For Love?”—a banger that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. The synth lines hit like laser beams straight outta a retro arcade game, while SAWA’s vocals float above it all like she owns the damn galaxy. It’s got this infectious energy that makes you wanna dance even if you’re sitting on your couch eating chips. Like seriously, how do you not move to this? Every time I hear it, I’m reminded why J-pop does high-energy better than most genres out there. Then there’s “Space Travel,” which is hands down one of those songs that sticks in your brain longer than gum under a chair. This track is pure escapism—like strapping yourself into a spaceship headed for nowhere in particular but loving every second of it. The production is slick without being soulless, and the way the rhythm builds up gives me goosebumps every damn time. If aliens ever invade Earth, I’m blasting this as humanity’s official soundtrack because honestly, we’d go out swinging. Now, credit where it’s due—the crew behind this thing knew what they were doing. Groovisions killed it with the art direction and design; the whole aesthetic screams early-2000s cool without feeling dated. And props to Masayo Takise for mastering—this album sounds crisp as hell, no matter how old your speakers are. Oh, and Hiroshi Nomura’s photography? Perfectly matches the vibe: sleek, minimal, yet totally eye-catching. But here’s the kicker—listening to Time Space now feels kinda surreal. In 2009, people thought space tourism was gonna be a thing by now, right? Yet here we are, stuck on Earth arguing about Twitter edits or whatever. Meanwhile, SAWA dropped an album almost predicting our obsession with interstellar dreams—and did it with style. Makes you wonder if she saw the future or just had really good weed. So yeah, Time Space isn’t perfect, but it’s got guts. And sometimes, that’s all you need—a little bit of chaos wrapped in shiny packaging. Check it out if you want music that’ll slap you awake and remind you life’s too short for boring tunes.
