Hard To Beat: Twenty One Stooges Killers – A Raw Slice of Aussie Rock Energy Released in 1989 via the iconic Australian label Au Go Go, Hard To Beat: Twenty One Stooges Killers is a chaotic yet electrifying tribute to punk, garage rock, and alternative vibes. It’s not just an album; it’s more like a love letter to raw energy, rebellious spirit, and that unmistakable edge only Aussie musicians can pull off. With tracks from various artists channeling everything from Iggy Pop worship to their own gritty twists, this record feels like a wild ride through the underbelly of rock ‘n’ roll. The tracklist reads like a mixtape made for late-night drives or sweaty basement gigs—songs like “Search & Destroy,” “No Fun,” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog” are instant headbangers, but there are two standout moments I’ll never forget. First up, “Tight Pants.” This one hits hard because it’s got this primal groove that makes you wanna move whether you’re at a club or stuck in traffic. The guitar riffs feel dirty, almost unhinged, while the vocals have this sneering attitude that screams punk without trying too hard. It’s short, sharp, and leaves you craving another spin. You don’t just listen to this song—you live it for those three minutes. Then there’s “Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell.” If ever a title matched its vibe, this is it. The track starts with this menacing crawl before exploding into pure chaos. The lyrics stick with you—not because they’re poetic masterpieces, but because they’re so damn visceral. By the end, you’re left wondering if your speakers survived the assault. Tracks like these remind me why rock music matters—it doesn’t apologize, it just exists. What strikes me about this compilation is how unpolished it feels. These aren’t shiny studio-perfect recordings; they’re rough around the edges, full of grit and soul. And honestly? That’s what makes it work. In a world where overproduced albums often lack personality, Hard To Beat doubles down on authenticity. It’s messy, loud, and proud—a true snapshot of its time. But here’s the kicker: listening to this now, decades later, feels oddly comforting. Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s realizing that some things—like killer riffs and untamed creativity—never really go out of style. Or maybe it’s just the fact that no matter how bad your day is, hearing someone scream “No Fun” somehow makes life better. So yeah, Hard To Beat: Twenty One Stooges Killers might not be perfect, but who cares? Sometimes the best records are the ones that leave a little dirt on your hands.

To be honest with you, Women only love Rich people. They seek and search and destroy men's hearts of shame and then put the blame on us for being so weak.

Just noticed that it's not credited on this. It was Neil Rogers from the Bo-weevils on bass, Pete and Bill from the Cosmic Psychos on guitar and drum and a bloke called 'Dog Meat' on vox. Bill also hit a piano key. It was on side 3 between 1969 and Anne. One of the best walls of sound I've ever heard.

One of my favorite albums. Pity it got distorted in the back of a closed car. NRGs version of Now I wanna be your dog is just staggering. Blew a speaker to that. Can someone post these seperately?

Should have waited before posting. It is on here and I'm mighty glad. 3 others are missing from the contents list, Magnolia strip-Dirt and Raw power-She creatures of the hollywood hills as songs 4 and 5 on side 2, and Hellmenn-Search and destroy as song 5 on side 4. If you like this compilation you might like 'Not so lucky country', another Australian compilation from about the same time. Like this one, side 3's a killer.
