- About Me: My name is Joey Peru. I am 35 years old. Divorced and SINGLE father raising 2 kids (Joey & Kimberli). I do have another daughter (Alexia) whom I love very much just don't get to see. My kids are 16, 15, and 9 years old. The youngest live with me.
I am a great person if given the chance to get to know me. Lately I have been going through a very rough time in life. On the evening of April 4, 2006 I was injured in a vehicle accident that forever changed my life. The accident caused 5 bulging disc in my back, spinal cord injury at T10-T12 and fractured C6-C7 of my neck. My neck got alot better but some days I can't hardly move it and it causes a lot of pain. Since the accident I deal daily with constant pain, Post traumatic stress disorder, severe depression, Bipolar Disorder and being unable to work ultimately leaving me BROKE!!! I was out of work for a year ultimately losing my job that I had for 11 years. I tried to go back to work doing part time jobs. But I ended up hurting myself more doing a vending job lifting cases of cokes. I have tried to get approved for disability since the accident but been turned down repeatedly, even by a Judge in court. The judge wrote 22 pages worth of bull, ending with i should be able to find a office job because of my training and education.
When I am very upset I have to remind myself of this---------

"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."
I am very thankful that my kids were not injured and that I can still walk. Things could have been much worse!!
I have endured a tremendous amount of physical and emotional trauma. However, I want to share my expierences for others as a therapeutic exercise so I can release some of my feelings, begin to heal and share with others my life's journey. Hopefully, my stories will give others hope to make it through tough times.
