Blanco Y Negro EP by Alex Vanni: A Hidden Gem in Electronic Music Released back in 2011, Blanco Y Negro EP by Italian producer Alex Vanni might not have set the world on fire when it dropped, but it’s one of those records that sneaks up on you. If you’re into electronic music with a moody edge and some serious groove, this EP deserves a spot in your collection—or at least a listen. The standout track for me has to be “Boca Negra (Tony Barbato Rework).” It takes the original mix and flips it into something hypnotic. The rework layers in these haunting synths that feel like they’re pulling you into a dark, smoky club somewhere in Milan. Tony Barbato adds this subtle tension throughout—it builds and releases just enough to keep you hooked without overdoing it. You can tell he respects the source material but isn’t afraid to mess with it either. This version sticks with me because it’s so atmospheric; it’s the kind of track that makes you forget where you are for a minute. Another banger is “Aguas (Ondbraio Remix).” Ondbraio strips things down here, focusing on crisp beats and shimmering textures. There's this watery vibe—pun intended—that flows through the whole thing. It’s understated yet intricate, like watching sunlight dance on rippling water. The remix doesn’t try too hard to impress, which ironically makes it more memorable. Sometimes less really is more. One thing I appreciate about this EP is how cohesive it feels despite its variety. Each track brings something unique while still fitting into the overall mood. It’s got that Italian touch—sleek, stylish, and unapologetically cool. Looking back, Blanco Y Negro EP came out during a time when electronic music was evolving rapidly. Listening to it now feels almost nostalgic, like revisiting an old friend who hasn’t aged much. And honestly? That’s kinda rare for an album from 2011. Final thought: If Alex Vanni ever decided to drop a follow-up to this EP, I’d be first in line. Until then, we’ve got this little slice of Italy’s underground scene to enjoy—and maybe wonder what could’ve been.
