Mirrorion Telegnostic Edition by Arktau Eos: A Journey Through Dark Ambient Soundscapes Released in 2016 under Finland’s enigmatic Aural Hypnox label, Mirrorion Telegnostic Edition is an album that feels like stepping into a forgotten ritual buried deep within the earth. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill dark ambient release; it’s more of a sonic labyrinth, weaving together experimental textures with tribal undertones and electronic wizardry. The masterminds behind this project—Arktau Eos—are known for their cryptic approach to music-making, and here they’ve crafted something both alien and strangely familiar. The album opens with “The Vitric Portal,” which immediately sets the tone. Imagine standing at the edge of some ancient abyss while distant echoes pulse around you. There's no rush, no need to grab your attention aggressively—it just unfolds naturally, pulling you deeper into its world. What stays with me about this track is how it balances minimalism with intricate layers. It’s not overly busy but still rich enough to keep you hooked. Around the three-minute mark, there’s this subtle shift where metallic drones start creeping in, almost imperceptibly, until you realize you’re fully immersed. It’s haunting without being overbearing—a perfect entry point. Another standout is “Beacons In Polar Light.” If I had to pick one track that encapsulates what makes this album so compelling, it’d be this one. The sound design here is next-level. You can practically feel the cold, desolate landscapes the title suggests. Tribal percussion kicks in halfway through, grounding the piece in something human amidst all the cosmic weirdness. It’s hypnotic, like staring at stars on a frosty night—you lose yourself but don’t want to come back. Something about the way those shimmering synths interact with the steady beat sticks with you long after the song ends. Other tracks like “Lotus Of The Underworld” and “Obsidian Pyramid” dive even further into esoteric territory, blending ritualistic chants with industrial tones. Meanwhile, “A Banquet For Ghosts” closes the album with a sense of finality, almost as if the spirits conjured throughout have been laid to rest. Each track flows seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive experience rather than just a collection of songs. What really stands out about Mirrorion Telegnostic Edition is its ability to transport you somewhere else entirely. Listening to it feels less like hearing music and more like participating in some arcane ceremony. Sure, it might not appeal to everyone—this stuff leans heavily toward the avant-garde end of things—but if you’re into exploring uncharted sonic territories, this is gold. Funny thing though—after listening to it multiple times, I found myself wondering if Arktau Eos intentionally made this album impossible to describe properly. Maybe that’s part of the charm. Or maybe they just enjoy messing with our heads. Either way, hats off to them for crafting such a unique work. It’s not every day you stumble across an album that feels like it belongs in another dimension.

About Arktau Eos

Formed in early 2005, Arktau Eos are a Finnish ritual/dark ambient duo comprised of A.Ioh.L. and A.Ioh.H. Arktau Eos have never considered themselves a band in the usual sense of the word, although their experience in many bands has certainly lent them an edge in working with sound as a transmitting medium. Arktau Eos did not begin as a band and certainly not as a project; behind the scenes, it is more akin to an esoteric exploration unit, a vessel of initiation. Since the beginning, the group has enjoyed a great rapport from outside the music scene, with many independent researchers confirming or augmenting their observations. Like a past bio put it: The fact that Arktau Eos is not concerned only with the musical dimension can not be stressed enough taken to the extreme, one could even be justified in claiming that creating music is just an extension of hand from us towards a common context, in which those in the know may recognize each other in silent understanding. Arktau Eos is should be, will be pure being, a stream flowing through us, even if by default coloured by our own predilections. Arktau Eos firmly believe in the power of music as much more than entertainment, given it is nurtured in a proper environment and treated as sacred, with a focused, serious spiritual intent. To this end, Arktau Eos work meticulously in the confines of their special temple-laboratory, an analog studio, and employ field recordings and snapshots of unheralded apparitions in the mix. Most of the time, they record on real, old-time reel tape, using a host of unusual, ethnic and self-built instruments of wood and bone, gongs, large frame drums, as well as various synths and modular synthesizers. Never prophets on their on own land, and not interested in being such either, Arktau Eos have held the majority of their performances overseas: in the U.K. (including Londons Equinox Festival), Russia (three mini-tours with performances in places ranging from clubs to museums); in the United States (at the Esoteric Book Conference in Seattle, and twice at Stella Natura Festival in Sierra Nevada); Romania, Norway, Sweden and Germany (Wave Gotik Treffen). They were also invited to contribute a track to Tesserae 1.0, a musical supplement to Abraxas: International Journal for Esoteric Studies no 2. (Fulgur Limited 2011). The music of Arktau Eos has also been used at Muzeum Alchymie in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic.

Wow, this is some good stuff. Oh man, chocolate covered raisins are the devil for me. I can't stop eating them when they're around and then I finally get sick but damn I love em'. They're leftover from Christmas. A bunch of my family bought big tubs of em' from Costco for Christmas presents and these are the last ones I'm eating then I'm done. They are the devil for me. Good ambience on this track, real spacey, psyche, love it. Peace.

@GoldenGateNum9  as if this was only a running tap! If you had let it run for more than one or two minutes you would have realized, that there are more elements than that. And Arktau Eos is not about producing mainstream Ambient, it is about the transmission of dark elemental energies.

I recommend everybody to only comment on videos you like and to leave your hands from the keybord where you do not like, unless you want to expose yourself as an idiot.

I’m sorry but I can’t say this is ambient as far as the definition goes - sorry to sound like a snot but Eno specifically described it on the back of his ‘Discreet Music’ album way back in 75 and if anyone would know etc. I think this demands your attention as a work of art you don’t want to miss a minute of because it’s the realest and truest music out there.
