Review by Stefani Ernst

Bad Mood – TudnoFM Sessions: A Raw Indie Rock Gem That Sticks With You Let’s get one thing straight—this album isn’t trying to be something it’s not. TudnoFM Sessions by Bad Mood is the kind of record that feels like a late-night chat with an old friend. It’s messy, honest, and unapologetically real. Released in 2018 under Link2Wales, this UK-based indie rock project hits hard without ever feeling overproduced. And honestly? That’s what makes it so damn good. First off, let’s talk about “Grungeblues.” If you’re into tracks that sound like they were born out of frustration but somehow end up beautiful, this one’s for you. Liam Devall’s vocals are raw—like, almost uncomfortably raw—but that’s where the magic lies. His voice cracks at just the right moments, making you feel every ounce of emotion he pours into the song. The guitar work (also handled by Devall) has this gritty edge that reminds me of early ’90s grunge, but there’s a bluesy undertone that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. I swear, every time I hear those opening chords, I’m pulled back into some weird nostalgia trip—even though I wasn’t even alive during the golden age of grunge. Then there’s “Insomniac,” which might as well be my personal anthem. Tom Carroll’s bassline here is hypnotic; it grooves in a way that makes your chest vibrate if you crank the volume high enough. But what really gets me is how Neil Crud engineered the whole thing—it’s tight yet loose, polished but still rough around the edges. There’s this moment near the end where everything drops out except for Devall’s voice and a single guitar note hanging in the air. It’s haunting, man. Like, I’ve listened to it twenty times now, and it still gives me goosebumps. What stands out most about TudnoFM Sessions is its authenticity. These guys didn’t try to reinvent the wheel—they just made something deeply human. You can tell everyone involved poured their hearts into these four tracks. Sure, it’s only four songs, but sometimes less really is more. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album made me realize how rare it is to find music that doesn’t try too hard. Most bands today seem obsessed with perfection, but Bad Mood proves that imperfection can hit harder than any glossy production ever could. Oh, and fun fact? This review was written while wearing mismatched socks because life’s too short to stress over small stuff—or overproduced albums.
