I met Mel in Dallas in 1972 at the request of a young lady he was seeing and whom I worked with in the Frito Lay Building. We had lunch, and during that lunch Mel told us the greatest "stutter joke" I have ever heard. In his memory I have told the joke many times and give him full credit. An amazing, approachable, and friendly person. There was no pretense about him at all. I really enjoyed his company.
São boníssimos, inigualáveis no estilo. maneco - Brasil.

I think the MCA & Kapp albums from the late 60s are the best. Bob Wills in Hi-Fi.
Doesn't get much better than this !!!!!
RIP MelYes they play country music in heaven,There are still 4 strong beats to he bar,You can get a backing group from among he angels an exchange your plucking harp for a guitar!
PS, credit to Patsy Cline and Leanne Rimes for their versions but a big fat raspberry to Elvis!
Mel was the best Singer Bob Wills ever had.

About 45 years ago, my wife bought me a compilation album which had this track on.I was blown away and from then on was a western swing junkie. This track is one of the 3 best ever songs.I have numerous versions of Faded love but none come near this!
