Rock Ríos: A Latin Rock Odyssey That Still Kicks Ass (1995) Miguel Ríos’ Rock Ríos isn’t just an album—it’s a wild ride through genres, emotions, and decades of musical genius. Released in 1995, this gem blends Latin vibes with classic rock swagger and pop Latino charm. It’s like someone threw a fiesta, invited Beethoven for good measure, and let the party spill into three continents—Spain, Mexico, Venezuela, Europe, and even the US. Labels like Universal, Musart, and Polydor were smart enough to get on board, because honestly, who wouldn’t want a piece of this pie? Let’s dive into two tracks that’ll stick to your brain like gum under a barstool: “Himno A La Alegría” and “Blues Del Autobús.” First up, “Himno A La Alegría.” Yep, it’s based on Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, but don’t roll your eyes yet. This isn’t some stuffy orchestra piece; it’s a full-blown rock anthem with Miguel Ríos channeling his inner poet-warrior. The track builds from soft whispers to an explosive chorus that makes you wanna grab a lighter—or your phone flashlight—and wave it around like you’re at a stadium concert. Sure, it has moments of sheer bombast, but it never loses sight of Miguel Ríos’ roots or his love for storytelling. Tracks like “Ciudad de Neón” and “Maneras De Vivir” remind us why we fell in love with music in the first place—to escape, to connect, to feel something real. So, would I recommend this album? Absolutely. Just don’t listen to it when you’re feeling low unless you’re ready to cry ugly tears of joy or existential confusion. Either way, it’s worth it. Final thought: If aliens ever invade Earth and demand proof of humanity’s artistic greatness, I’m handing them a copy of Rock Ríos. About Miguel Ríos

Singer, born 07/06/1944 in Granada, Spain. He started his career in 1963 as Mike Ríos, "El Rey del Twist". Since the mid sixties he uses his real name Miguel Ríos for his releases. His biggest success was "Himno A La Alegría" which sold seven million copies worldwide. The English version "A Song Of Joy" reached Number 14 on the Billboard charts in 1970.
