CKY’s Attached At The Hip: A Hard Rock Gem That Still Kicks (2002) Alright, let’s talk about CKY’s Attached At The Hip, the kinda-under-the-radar hard rock album from 2002 that deserves way more love. Released under Island Records, this US-born record is packed with raw energy and riffs sharp enough to cut glass. If you’re into no-nonsense rock with attitude, this one might just slap you awake. First off, yeah, the title track “Attached At The Hip” is a banger. It’s got this gritty groove that sticks to your brain like glue—kinda ironic given the song's name, huh? The guitar work here feels like it’s punching you in the chest but in a good way, y’know? You can tell these guys weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel; they just wanted to make something loud, fun, and straight-up heavy. And honestly? Mission accomplished. Another standout for me is “96 Quite Bitter Beings.” It starts off all chaotic and then slams into this relentless beat that feels like it could power a mosh pit on its own. The vocals are snarly without being over-the-top, and there’s this weird charm to how unpolished everything sounds. Like, sure, some bands back then were chasing radio play, but CKY seemed content just shredding their guts out. Props to them. What I really dig about this album is how it doesn’t try too hard to impress anyone. These dudes clearly made the music they wanted to make, consequences be damned. Tracks like these stick with you because they feel real—they’re not polished up or tailored for playlists. They’ve got dirt under their nails, and that makes ‘em memorable. Looking back now, listening to Attached At The Hip feels like catching up with an old friend who still rocks the same leather jacket from high school. It’s nostalgic but also kinda timeless if you’re into this style of rock. Weirdly enough, though, every time I hear it, I get hungry for nachos. No clue why. Maybe it’s the crunchiness? Anyway, if you haven’t spun this yet, do yourself a favor and crank it up—you won’t regret it.
