Delerium Featuring Isabel Bayrakdarian - Angelicus Remixes

Review by Deborah Ballarini

Angelicus Remixes by Delerium: A Sonic Cathedral in Electronic Form If you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like if angels got their wings remixed, Angelicus Remixes by Delerium is your answer. Released in 2007 on Nettwerk Records outta the UK, this album isn’t just a remix project—it’s an experience. Featuring Isabel Bayrakdarian’s ethereal vocals, the record dives deep into techno, ambient, progressive trance, and house vibes, creating something that feels both otherworldly and grounded at the same time. Let me cut to the chase—this isn’t one of those albums where every track blends together into some indistinguishable electronic soup. Nope. Two tracks stood out for me so hard they’re practically tattooed on my brain. First up, there’s “Angelicus (Andy Moor Full Length)”. Oh man, Andy Moor didn’t just remix this; he rebuilt it from scratch with lasers or something. The way Isabel’s voice floats over the pulsing beats is wild—it’s like she’s singing from another dimension while Andy keeps things anchored with his signature progressive trance touch. There’s this moment around the three-minute mark when the bassline kicks in harder, and suddenly you’re not just listening anymore—you’re feeling. It’s the kind of track that makes you wanna close your eyes and pretend you’re floating through space…or maybe dancing alone in your room because who cares? Then there’s “Angelicus (Morgan Page Remix)”, which hits different but still slaps. Morgan takes the original vibe and gives it more of a house edge, layering in these hypnotic synth lines that feel like sunlight breaking through clouds. What sticks with me here is how smooth it all feels. No jarring drops, no cheap tricks—just pure, unadulterated groove magic. You can tell Morgan knows how to let Isabel’s voice shine without overshadowing the beat. Honestly, I could loop this one forever and never get tired of it. Now, full disclosure: I’m no DJ spinning records in Ibiza or whatever, but even I can hear how much care went into these remixes. Each version of “Angelicus” brings its own flavor, yet they all share that haunting beauty Delerium does so well. And props to Isabel Bayrakdarian—her voice doesn’t just complement the music; it elevates it to something almost sacred. But here’s the kicker: as much as I love this album, part of me wishes they’d thrown in a totally bonkers remix just for fun. Like, imagine a dubstep version of “Angelicus.” Crazy, right? But hey, maybe that’s why I’m writing reviews instead of producing music. So yeah, Angelicus Remixes isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best art comes from taking something beautiful and twisting it until it becomes something new entirely. Now excuse me while I go blast “Andy Moor Full Length” again and pretend I’m flying through neon-lit skies.

About Delerium Featuring Isabel Bayrakdarian

Side-project of Front Line Assembly members Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber, formed 1986. Originally releasing voiceless industrial soundscapes with militant drumming, Delerium gained wide recognition with a shift towards ethnic electronica and New Age influences in a similar manner to (of "Sadeness" fame) but with less Gregorian chanting. This period created their chart-topping single "Silence" (feat. ), which garnered significant attention after being remixed by various trance acts. Delerium have operated mainly as an electro pop band since then, featuring many famous female and male vocalists.
