Released in 1969, this gem captures Engelbert at his peak—smooth as silk and packing enough charisma to light up Sin City. Backed by The Three Degrees on vocals and masterfully arranged by Laurie Holloway, it’s no wonder this record still resonates today. The genres here are pretty straightforward—Vocal and Pop—but don’t let that fool you. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill lounge act. With styles ranging from AM Pop to Standards, Engelbert brings a mix of heartfelt ballads and upbeat crowd-pleasers that feel like stepping back in time. And hey, who doesn’t love a good throwback now and then? Two tracks really stuck with me after giving this album a spin. First off, there’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Now, I know what you’re thinking—this song has been done a million times. But trust me, Engelbert makes it his own. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album made me realize how rare it is these days to find performances that feel authentic. Sure, modern tech gives us crystal-clear sound and endless edits, but sometimes you just want someone pouring their heart out onstage, flaws and all. That’s exactly what Live At The Riviera Las Vegas delivers—and honestly? We could use more of that.
