We Are The Attack EP by ExTxAx: A Raw Punk-Hardcore Thrash Fusion That Still Hits Hard Released in 2002, We Are The Attack EP by UK-based ExTxAx is one of those hidden gems that punches you right in the gut—and leaves a mark. This short but explosive record dives headfirst into punk, hardcore, and thrash influences, delivering raw energy with zero apologies. Backed by Enslaved Records and engineered/mixed to perfection (or, well, intentional imperfection) by Henrik Oja, this EP feels like it was made for sweaty basements and mosh pits. The band—credited under E.T.A. for both music and lyrics—doesn’t waste time trying to reinvent the wheel here. Instead, they take what works about punk and hardcore and crank it up a notch. Tracks like “Hopeless Generation” and “Otto Hates The Police” stand out as two reasons why this EP sticks in your brain long after the needle lifts off the record. “Hopeless Generation” kicks things off with a relentless barrage of riffs and shouted vocals that feel more like a battle cry than a song. It’s fast, furious, and unapologetically pissed off—the kind of track that makes you wanna smash something just because you can. The lyrics hit hard too, capturing that nihilistic vibe of youth without overthinking it. You don’t listen to this track; you feel it. Then there’s “Otto Hates The Police,” which might be my personal favorite. If chaotic guitar work and pounding drums had a love child, this would be it. There’s something oddly cathartic about screaming along to lines that channel frustration into pure noise. It’s not polished or radio-friendly, and that’s exactly why it works so damn well. Plus, who doesn’t love a good anti-authority anthem? What really ties everything together is how authentic the whole thing feels. From Tom Terror’s gritty photography to E.T.A.’s DIY approach on layout and production, every element screams independence. Even the mix has this live-off-the-floor quality that adds to the chaos. Sure, some parts sound rough around the edges—but honestly? That’s kinda the point. Looking back at We Are The Attack EP, it’s wild to think this came out over two decades ago. In today’s world of algorithm-curated playlists and overly produced pop-punk hybrids, albums like this remind us why underground music matters. They’re messy, loud, and imperfect—but also real. And honestly? Listening to this EP feels like finding an old zine stuffed in the back of a drawer. It’s not gonna change your life, but it’ll definitely make you nod your head and maybe even crack a smile. Who knew hating stuff could sound so fun?

Interesting fact about Album

Here's an interesting fact: The album *We Are The Attack EP* by ExTxAx is a raw explosion of punk, hardcore, and thrash energy. It’s wild to think that this UK-born project came out in 2002, with Henrik Oja pulling double duty as both engineer and mixer. And get this—E.T.A. wasn’t just responsible for the music and lyrics but also handled the layout. Tracks like "Loose My Mind" and "Otto Hates The Police" scream pure rebellion, capturing the chaotic spirit of the early 2000s underground scene. Not bad for a band that seemed to do everything themselves!
