Album Review: Mirror Error by The Faint – A Genre-Bending Sonic Adventure Alright, let’s dive into Mirror Error by The Faint. Released in 2009 on Boysnoize Records (Germany’s electronic heavyweight), this album is a wild mashup of Pop/Rock, Electronic vibes, and everything in between. Think House beats, Lo-Fi textures, Techno drops, and even some Indie Rock grit. It’s kind of like they threw a bunch of genres into a blender and hit “puree.” But hey, that’s what makes it so fun to listen to. The album’s got remixes galore, which keeps things fresh but also slightly chaotic. Tracks like Machine In The Ghost and Battlehymn For Children really stuck with me, though. Let me tell ya why. First up, Machine In The Ghost. Whether you’re listening to the original or the Djedjotronic Remix version, this track just slaps. The beat hits hard, and there’s this eerie synth line that sneaks up on you—like, “Oh, I’m haunting your brain now.” It’s moody but still danceable, if that makes sense? Like, you could blast this at a club or vibe out alone in your room. Either way, it’s unforgettable. Then there’s Battlehymn For Children, especially the Tensnake Remix. This one feels like a mixtape from an alternate universe where disco never died but got all glitchy and futuristic. The bassline is groovy as hell, and the vocals have this hypnotic quality that pulls you in. Honestly, every time I hear it, I wanna grab my jacket, head outside, and strut down the street like I’m starring in my own movie montage. You know what I mean? One thing I noticed about Mirror Error is how experimental it feels without losing its accessibility. Sure, some tracks lean more toward Electro chaos (Das Glow Remix, anyone?), while others are straight-up New Wave throwbacks. But somehow, it all works together. Maybe because The Faint knows how to balance weirdness with catchiness. Now here’s the kicker: listening to this album made me realize something kinda funny. Most people think music has to fit neatly into boxes—pop, rock, techno, whatever. But albums like Mirror Error remind us that those lines are blurry AF. And honestly? That’s what makes it so damn cool. So yeah, give Mirror Error a spin if you’re into genre-bending bangers. Just don’t blame me if you start randomly dancing in public—it’s contagious.

Davey thinks he looks just like
The face he makes in mirrors
Only once or twice a month
Does the mirror do him justice
Every other time he looks a mess
He expects a lot from it
But then barely notices

Davey knows we all create
The world from in our skulls
Everything you think of is
Just as real as you make it
Now he only focuses on dreams
Can you make a name exist
Just by focusing on it

I've been around a mirror enough
To know it's hard to change
We're like magicians when we dream
But we wake up, nothings different
Cover up with jewelry
But pierce all the parts you got
If the packaging design
Could fix the contents

I might distort myself a bit
I doubt that I'm the only one
To hope that features smear
Want the face that's stuck to my skull
It's just a mask
Peel the skin away and we'll trade
I'm not so attached to this face

I've been listening to these guys since high school. Still love them 10 years later. The song Worked Up So Sexual was on The Office once when Michael Scott went to the club with Dwight and Ryan. Lol.
