Album Review: Taki Jest Świat Czemu Marzymy by Happy End W Antkowiak Alright, let’s dive into this gem from 1976—Taki Jest Świat Czemu Marzymy. It’s a Polish pop album with ballad vibes that feels like stepping into a time machine. Released under the Tonpress label, it’s got this vintage charm you don’t hear much these days. And yeah, props to T. Biliński for the cover photography—it’s simple but somehow sticks with you, kinda like the music itself. Now, onto the tracks. The title track, “Taki Jest Świat,” hits different. It opens with this soft, almost hesitant piano melody, and then the vocals come in, smooth and raw at the same time. You can tell they weren’t chasing perfection here; it’s more about emotion. There’s something about the way Antkowiak sings—it’s like he’s sitting across from you, sharing his thoughts over a cup of coffee. I remember this one because it feels real. No flashy production tricks, just a guy pouring his heart out. Then there’s “Czemu Marzymy.” This one sneaks up on you. Starts off slow, almost sleepy, but by the second verse, it builds into this dreamy crescendo. The lyrics? Deep. They make you think about all those big questions we usually ignore during our 9-to-5 grind. Why do we dream? What’s the point? Heavy stuff, man. But it doesn’t feel pretentious—it’s more like a late-night convo with an old friend. What makes this album stick is its honesty. It’s not trying too hard to impress anyone. It’s just… there. Like an old sweater you forgot about but rediscover on a cold day. And honestly, isn’t that what good music should do? Make you feel something without yelling for attention? Here’s the kicker though: listening to this in 2023, it’s wild how timeless it feels. Like, if someone told me this was recorded last year, I’d believe them. Maybe that’s the magic of ballads—they age like fine wine. Or maybe it’s just proof that human emotions haven’t changed much since 1976. Either way, Taki Jest Świat Czemu Marzymy deserves a spot in your playlist, even if only for a rainy afternoon when you need to slow down and think. Oh, and random thought: wouldn’t it be cool if someone sampled these tracks for a modern beat? Just saying.
