The One Different Outlooks by Hixxy & Sunset – A Hardcore Time Capsule That Still Slaps Let’s cut the crap. If you’re into electronic music, especially that high-octane, fist-pumping hardcore and happy hardcore vibe, The One Different Outlooks is a ride you don’t wanna miss. Released in ‘98 under New Essential Platinum (UK), this album hits hard like a Red Bull-fueled bender at some underground rave. It’s raw, it’s relentless, and yeah—it’s kinda messy in all the right ways. First off, let me throw some love at "The One." This track? Pure fire. From the opening beat, it grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. The kicks are punchy as hell, the synths scream euphoria, and there’s this weirdly addictive vocal sample that just loops in your brain for days. Like, seriously, I heard this once during a late-night drive, and now every time I get behind the wheel, I’m half-expecting to start drifting through time back to the '90s. It’s not perfect—there’s moments where the mix feels cluttered—but honestly? That’s part of its charm. Feels alive, unpolished, real. Then there’s "Different Outlooks," which flips the script a bit. While "The One" is straight-up chaos, this one leans more melodic without losing its edge. There’s something about how they layer those twinkling keys over thumping basslines—it’s almost... hopeful? Don’t get me wrong, it still bangs harder than most stuff out today, but there’s this weird sense of optimism buried underneath. Makes you wanna hug someone while smashing dance moves simultaneously. And damn, isn’t that what happy hardcore’s all about? Now, here’s the kicker: listening to this album in 2023 feels like stepping into a time machine with busted brakes. You know it’s dated—you can practically smell the neon legwarmers and cheap energy drinks—but that’s exactly why it slaps. Hixxy & Sunset weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel; they were making bangers for ravers who lived for the drop. No pretentiousness, no overthinking. Just pure, unfiltered adrenaline. And honestly? We could use more of that nowadays. Modern electronic music’s got its gems, sure, but too much of it sounds like it was made by robots programmed to be “cool.” Screw that noise. Give me the messy, chaotic brilliance of The One Different Outlooks any day. Oh, and one last thing: if you play this album loud enough, your neighbors will either call the cops or join the party. Either way, win-win.

I get the notion, when I'm 70 and after everyone has gone home after the family birthday get together I'm going to put this one on and think of my whole life in one go. Some ups some downs but I will thank the rave gods I was alive in this era and heard the greatest of DJs play the greatest of tracks.
